Lamothe

Lamothe is a hamlet between Montreal-du-Gers and Eauze whose name ("la motte") points to an old feudal mound. A 13th-century guard tower and a small Romanesque chapel survive. There's a rest area with a composting toilet and a "Pilgrim Goose" game (Jeu de l'Oie du Pelerin) for entertainment. Near here the GR65 follows a stretch of old railway bed -- flat, easy walking through vineyard country.
