Castillo de Cornatel

Fuente alimentada por manantiales, Iglesia de Santiago. Esta pequeña y bonita aldea fue antaño el hogar de los siervos que trabajaban para los habitantes del castillo de arriba. Aparte del albergue, no hay servicios de ningún tipo, así que si piensas quedarte aquí, deberás llevar contigo comida y provisiones.

Villavieja es el único lugar donde los peregrinos informaron repetidamente haber sido asustados por un mastín muy grande, suelto y ladrando ruidosamente. Durante años, el dueño se había negado a hacer nada. Parece que ahora el perro está confinado (pero no encadenado) en un gran patio. La situación de los perros en Villavieja parece estar resuelta.

The Road

A medio camino de Villavieja, hay una carretera asfaltada a la derecha. Si tomas ese camino, pasarás de largo el castillo. A la izquierda hay una gran casa antigua muy bien reformada, y el Camino al castillo pasa por el lado izquierdo de esa casa. Es un camino de grava ligera entre castaños.

You get sheets for the bed (including a thin sheet), and a blanket is already on your bed. WiFi is available, a washer and dryer is also available for no extra charge. Kitchen is fully equipped.

Bring food from Ponferrada!!! Also plan on food for the next day - I couldn’t find anything open until I already walked 21km the next day!!

An amazing albergue! Its like a mountain chalet and beutifully renovated. Everyhing seems almost new. 16 bunks. Seperate Toilet and shower area for men and women. Great shower!

Lounge / dining area. Fully equipped kitchen. Washing machine and dryer! Sheets, towels, blankets!

Wifi....

Lovely place to stay.

Camino de Sant… (not verified)

The large dog was loose this morning. We had to use our poles to scare it off. It tried attacking us. The owner saw us on the Camino near the castle and he apologized. He said that he keeps the dog put away during the busier season.

The municipality of Priaranza del Bierzo (which includes the hamlet of Villavieja) has taken back the management of the albergue.
It’s 10€ a night and you leave your money on top of the desk where the sello is for the credential. Please get in touch with the ayuntamiento (town hall) two days before your stay. Call 987-42-08-06. M-F, 9 am - 2 pm. You can also write to the email address for information, aytopriaranza@ccbierzo.com, but calling is requested for actual reservations.
