Although more than 17 km still separate you from the Cathedral, from here onward you're essentially walking through an expanding string of Santiago suburbs. Most remain small, but the sprawl is building.

The Road

In town, turn right off the N550 at the church, passing around its park. A country road takes you steeply uphill. You will pass through the hamlet of Cruces, Angueira de Suso, and into Areal before returning to the main road at Picaraña.

The albergue has a pool, laundry facilities, a kitchen and lounge, curtains on the bunks and a light and plug socket each. The owner Robert is very helpful. Breakfast is included and you can buy wine, beers and drinks. You can also buy pasta, tuna and ready meals etc if you want to cook your own dinner. It is clean and has everything you need.

We stayed at Villa Vieira This is absolutely the best Albergue on the Camino. Lovely pool to recharge after a long days walk. Fantastic common space and cooking area. Washer, dryer, and hand wash area with drying lines. Rooms and showers were top-notch. Family that owns it is super friendly and service oriented. Simply awesome! Super highly recommended and right on the Camino. Skip Padron and go to Escravitude!

We stayed in Villa Vieira hostel yesterday. It's fantastic in everyway. Pool, guitar, lovely beds , sheets, outdoor area and friendly host. Top marks. George

María Carmen the owner of the Casa Rural A Eira Vella an absolutely beautiful two bedroom stone house with a lovely garden complete with fish pond. Not only is this house beautiful the owner Maria Carmen is a beautiful warm soul who went above and beyond to help us. Our friend had injured herself on the Camino and was unable to walk anymore. She came and picked us up at the bus station and offered to take our friend the next day to the bus station. The best place we have stayed at thus far since arriving in Lisbon. Bon Camino 🙏🏼💕

The owner at the Tabacos shop as you enter town was extremely welcoming and helpful. We wanted to find a taxi to O Milladoiro. He phoned one for us but it was going to be one hour before it would arrive. Instead, he told us how to take the Monbus just outside of his door, gave us the right change for the fare, and for 3 € we had a quick ride to Milladoiro.
