Rionegro del Puente

A small village at the end of the reservoir walk. Follow the signs to the albergue on the far end of town, where you'll find coffee, tea, and conversation -- the hospitaleros here are known for making pilgrims feel welcome.

The Road

The camino returns to a rural trail until it reaches the Rio Negro, just short of reaching the N-525. It crosses the river on a small pedestrian bridge and then passes under the N-525 to enter Rionegro.

This is a beautiful tranquil little Albergue and Craig is the perfect host. What a treat to have crisp cotton bed linen provided and the most comfortable beds. Craig cooked us an Asturian bean and chorizo stew which was delicious. This was a brilliant stop over. Thank you Craig.

Beautiful quiet place with nice little garden. You get a nice evening meal. You can use the well equipped kitchen. Book because it has only 4 beds! Yes, thé hospitaliero is a fervent believer but even if you are not religious it is interesting to listen to him..

Absolutely the best place to stay on the camino. The owners were wonderful and so accommodating. Coffee, tea and biscuits all day long, dinner was superb. The accommodation itself was the best proper beds, sheets and blankets loads of blankets. If I ever manage to get back to Spain for another go at the camino, I will definitely stay here.

An immaculately clean and comfortable room for 4 people. Fresh linen and clean blankets and duvets. The bathroom/shower area is spotless. The weather was cold the night we stayed there and a gas heater warmed the bedroom perfectly. We switched the heater off as we went to bed, and the room remained comfortable all night. The bean and capsicum soup provided for dinner was delicious, mopped up with plenty of bread. Hot drinks and delicious biscuits were available at any time throughout our stay, and they were also offered to pilgrims passing by, for a donation. There are a few pantry essentials available - also donativo - which can be used to put together a simple meal. Craig and Dorothea could not have been more hospitable. Highly recommended. If the conversation turns to religion and you're not interested, you are free to politely retire to the bedroom or put your backpack on and say farewell.

This brand of missionary zeal is all about distrusting and disliking everything other than this ex-missionary believes..
I had intended to stay but had my money refunded and walked on.
This kind of bigotted indoctrination I can do without.

The VDLP has some very long stages with a long walk between refreshments. Craig and his partner run a super cute stop for coffee and food, and it arrives in the middle of nowhere just when needed. A touch of Missionary zeal adds to the experience.

What a delight to stop at Craig and his partners wonderful creative albergue.Coffe, amazing bocadillios and chat. What a lovely opportunity to recharge and get ready for the next 6 kms to Ripnegro del Puente.
