The ruins of the monastery and pilgrim hospital of San Antón is a delightful space that seems to embrace the camino, its archway spanning the road itself. Once a sprawling complex there is little that remains.

The albergue here has never seen better days, and the efforts of a dedicated team of volunteer hospitaleros keep the place as traditional as can be expected.

The niches in the archway, previously used by monks to deliver food to late arriving pilgrims, are now a popular spot to leave written messages.

Can anyone confirm if the Albergue in San Anton is open today or tomorrow (June 1 or June 2)? Gracias ♡

I was well and truly open on 23 May 2025 and the experience of super cold shower, no electricity, plentiful wine and paella and wonderful warm blanket in the small dorm . Angela is an angel. Best donativo so far for me.

Today on May 9, 2025 I was waiting for the albergue to open, from 13:40 to 14:40, but unfortunately nobody came. An old local man said the albergue may not work because of the weather, since it was raining. Nobody answered an email with a question if the albergue would be open or not. Feel disappointed since I deliberately woke up earlier in Burgos to reach this particular place.

I am staying here (18.09.2024)-it’s open, magical (and no one is wearing helmets!) (reference to an earlier comment)

Stay here if you get the chance. Joseph the volunteer on site was so accommodating and even let us in early due to the heat. The pilgrim meal was lovely. Check in is at 2.30 pm so be aware if you arrive too early. Take coins for the vending machine to get any drinks. No power or hot water was available

Definitely open! I stayed here last night. Incredible, absolutely worth the extra 5kms. Of the 12 beds, there were 6 of us. I am a slow walker and didn’t arrive until just after 3pm and I was still only 4th of 6 :) two course meal, breakfast, incredible site, gracious hosts. A highlight of my Camino! There is no way to contact the hosts (even email, no reply) so no reservations.

My parents had recommended this place from their stay on the Camino, so I was so excited to see it is open!
