The Road

The stretch of the camino between Villafranca and Torremejía includes a long straight gravel section which is an original Roman road. It makes a few minor twists and turns but eventually heads directly into, through, and out of Torremejía.

I’ve seen this restaurant’s name written many ways, including as Le Bristo on Tripadvisor. Located on the Plaza España, this restaurant is centrally located and very, very good. We shared a wonderful goat cheese salad and some of the best grilled artichokes I’ve ever had in Spain. So, if you are feeling like treating yourself to something other than a carb-heavy pilgrim’s meal (which they do not have), this is the place to do it. We found the price very reasonable for such a good meal.

Calle Carrillo Arenas, 40. A very nice place to stay. Our room was on the ground floor with a private bath. The beds were very comfortable, the water was hot, the location was quiet, and the landlady very helpful if you speak Spanish. All in all a nice place to stay. One word of caution — there is no check in between 2pm and 4pm.
