There is a nice place for a swim in the river in the northwest corner of Mansilla. Cross over the small pedestrian bridge towards the camping place (not the road bridge that the camino crosses) located in the northwest corner of town. Getting there will take you through several of Mansilla’s small plazas.

Fiesta

The Virgen de Gracia is celebrated on the second Sunday in September. San Martín is celebrated on the 11th of November.

History

Mansilla traces its history back to Roman times, and the walls that continue to surround most of the city bear evidence to its importance; it was both a layover on the Roman road to León and a market town (mostly mules).

The Road

Mansilla still has large sections of its defensive walls, look back when leaving town to get the best view of them.

Much of the way between here and Puente de Villarente is adjacent to the road.

We stopped for late breakfast at Cafe La Fragua, on the left side of the road on the way into the village. Great service, looks like a family business, very friendly, food and coffee was good and good price.

We were pretty gutted to find out despite their website La curiosa is closed Sundays (haha no surprise!) el refugio de uxia was open for 7-8 euro plato combinados that were fresh, some ambiance and IPAs. Try also open for delicious fresh tortiwlla and coffee at 830 am

Menu del dia was the best dinner I have had so far on the Camino. Great value for 18 euro. Cozy upstairs tables.

Restaurants La Curiosa! GET A RESERVATION; you won’t regret it. The menu of the day was Michelin star quality. Server Juan Jose was awesome. His pigeon English and my Pigeon Spanish got the job done. Best meal so far on Camino AND best value. It beat San Zoilo Monasterio and was €100 cheaper. Get the Russian salad; WOW!

The gentleman who runs Casa Di Doru is very kind and hospitable. He recently bought the establishment and is trying to build up the business and make improvements.

This is a great place to rest and recuperate in a private room. 30€ is very well worth the investment.

Dinner was fantastic - we had a pizza that is enough for two people. Great chef.

I have stayed in all sorts of dormitories/Alburgues and this establishment a nice treat to have some privacy and space to get ready for the push to Santiago.

Highly recommend to stay here ❤️🙌👌

We booked a double room by phone at El Jardin, app shows 55-60€ which we know is out of date. But on arrival were shown to a room in La Casa de los Soportales showing on the app as only 45€. Feel totally ripped off.

It's not listed here, but Casa Di Doru was a nice place to stay. My private single room with private bath only cost 30€ on booking.com. Unfortunately, I was there on a Monday when the restaurant is closed, but it had great reviews on Google Maps.
