A tiny hamlet between Vega de Valcarce and Las Herrerías. A small albergue has operated here intermittently. The valley continues to narrow.

History

A Benedictine monastery once operated here, providing hospitality to pilgrims preparing for the mountain crossing. Nothing visible remains.

Booked ahead for a place - no walk ins. Room small but enough for an afternoon sleep. Shared bathroom. No need to hunt and gather, dinner included a rare treat along the path. A chance to soak our feet in the river only a stone’s throw away.

I was the only guest. Why? The food was good and plentiful. The place is nice? The hosts friendly and welcoming.
A good place to rest before the ascent tomorrow.

I concur with the other reviewers that this is a wonderful place to stay. Congenial, wonderful food, great hosts- what more can I say. They treat you well and given that your €25 gets you a comfortable bed, a huge home cooked dinner and a decent breakfast to prepare you for the day’s climb why wouldn’t you stay here!

Luis is a wonderful host and Carlos is an amazing cook. Old home charm and fabulous meals. No frills, just the genuine experience one hopes for on their Camino.

A great albergue, fabulous home made dinner, one of the best we’ve had. Very relaxing afternoon, feel ready for the climb tomorrow. Highly recommended.

A wonderful stop along the way.A lovely courtyard with flowers and shade to sit a while. Cool drinks and special tea, followed by amazing homemade soup!
A delightful couple with a charming cafe! 😍

Café Omega is a wonderful stop. Beautifully prepared vegetarian soup. The owner and his friend have come from Hungary, purchasing the bar from retired locals. Everything about the place is lovely. They hope to expand into a small albergue as well
