In the center of town is a Casa del Indiano left to the elements for what appears like the better half of a century, the only surviving element is, of course, the palm tree.

The Road

There are two routes between Pendueles and Llanes. The split between the two occurs shortly after you pass the Playa de Vidiago.

Option 1: The NEW camino along the coast through Andrín - 14.6

The new official camino between Pendueles and Llanes stays north of the A-8 and follows a slightly longer path. This route is both more scenic and more comfortable on your feet.

Option 2: The old camino through Vidiago - 14.2

This route, which until recently has been the official camino, was retired to keep pilgrims off of the main road. It is much more road walking than the new camino, however there is an albergue along this option.

Do not eat at this restaurant, even the albergue seemed sketchy. They did not take our passports so we did not want to raise too much of a fuss about a chicken burrito with no chicken in it for fear that they could simply refuse us or make our day worse. The woman who works the bar/restaurant is not nice at all. She told us there were no beds when there were plenty, she was very rude when it came to ordering food at the restaurant and messing up our order. Perhaps the guy actually working in the hostel tries to do his job but this horrible woman who works the bar/restaurant…no wonder the place is up for sale.

Apparently this donativo takes reservations. I was not expecting this and thought it was first come first serve. Had I known we needed reservations we wouldn’t have tried to make it there in good time and enjoyed more of the views along the coast. Fortunately we were able to get accommodations at Casa Flor, the woman at the bar said there were no beds available but the guy who came to the desk at the albergue entrance said it was not a problem (3 of us in a room with 3 bunk beds and we are the only ones in the room). Mildly frustrating but in the end we have a room and everything is good. Clean room, they have a washer/dryer, and the gentleman who checked us in is quite helpful.

Three of us stayed at Aves de Paso on September 6, 2023. It was my favorite albergue of my entire journey due to people who work there. Make sure you reserve a bed.

Incredible stay probably my favourite over the past two weeks of walking but make sure you reserve! I reserved the day before and she had a spot for me :) Had a delicious dinner and breakfast together, very calm atmosphere and true Camino spirit, highly recommend!

If you are craving something different than the standard menú del día definitely try this Mexican restaurant. I had the enchiladas suizas and a margarita and both were excellent!
