Padrón might just be the most important little town on this or indeed any other camino. It was here that the remains of Santiago arrived after being sent out to sea on a stone boat, as told in the story of the ‘translatio’.

His arrival to the specific point is attributed to the fact that it was here that he first arrived to preach while still alive, so his return was a homecoming of sorts.

Padrón is also the birthplace of Rosalia de Castro, Galicia’s most famous and beloved laureate.

Padrón (and Herbón) are home to that delicious green and possibly spicy pepper you may have had the pleasure of eating.

The Road

Take a look at the elevation profile for an idea of what these last 24km will be like, many pilgrims underestimate the elevation changes which increase as you near Santiago.

Good restaurant with a unique takeout concept. You choose cold pre-portioned meals from their fridge, and then you can take them away to eat at home or use their microwave/toaster in the restaurant and eat there. They have a wide variety of dishes, including vegetarian options, and also offer drinks, bread/pastries, and other small snacks. Great option for an easy and cheap meal when you don't feel like cooking!

Excellent supper, not necessarily local food a mixture but it was very good, esp the nachos, everything fresh and delightful staff.
Went back for breakfast, recommend the salmon and avocado toast 👍👍👍

Scammer, charged 150% of what was advertised. Will only call 2 taxis and staff is rude.

If you stroll in Sunday afternoon before 4 pm you’ll be right smack dab in the middle of great farmers market!

Great hostel! The host is so kind and helpful. Whole place was clean and quiet.

The host recommended the restaurant O Alpendre—it was great! Be aware many restaurants are closed on Mondays.

This Restaurant is closed to city centre, and our group of 3 were lucky enough to get a table inside the bar when it was raining heavily.
The host is a young man, very friendly, always smiling, and speak quite good English. The soup, home-cook squid and garlic prawns were delicious, and all pilgrims should try if they arrive at Padron.

This is by far the best Albergue I have been to so far. Very clean, organized, water, coffee, cocoa, etc, for pilgrims (gratis). Lockers to use, sheets, towels, etc. all provided. Hosts are friendly and helpful.

Had an amazing meal. Price was very reasonable and server was great. Sangria was especially good. Located along the big tree park in town

The entry into town is not attractive, very industrial. But if you stick to the Camino path, it is a bit better. Stayed at Camino Portuguese, a relatively new, spotless, place with a restaurant below. Great location on road out of town. Basic but nice and affordable.

Clean and modern . Host is very attentive to keeping the place neat and tidy .
There is an oven but no stove to use , there is a microwave , toaster and kettle .

A great stay just before making it to Santiago . It’s on the yellow path so no need to deviate . Supermarkets were about 200m away . Restaurants across the albergue
