The Igreja de Sao Joao Baptista de Rubiaes is one of the finest Romanesque churches in the Minho — a compact granite building with carved capitals and corbels that reward close attention. A mini-market in the bar next to the first albergue is closed on Saturdays — plan accordingly.

From the municipal albergue, descend to the road and follow it downhill. Another Roman bridge lies ahead.

The Road

From the municipal albergue, descend to the road and follow it downhill and on the left-hand side. You will pass Ninho – The Pilgrim Nest and then dogleg left.Another Roman bridge is not far ahead. Beyond the bridge the camino returns to the road and crossed directly over it, keeping the bar on your right. It will rejoin and depart the road twice more before arriving in Pecene.

Staying at the municipal albergue, which was modest. And quite a bit damp and cool, but then this is a year of winter floods…. Anyhow, Jaime’s mother made a the best chourisso de Carne - smoking, chunky, meaty, and greasy goodness. Boil it briefly, she said , so I did. Any fan of smoked meat will recognize this house made wizardry for what it is - the work of local genius. For breakfast the next morning there is cafe and pastel de Nata, or whatever you need for the next stage of Camino. G-d bless his home and family - a wonderful discovery on the Way.

Possibly one of the rudest landlords I have experienced. The restaurant was empty but for three other guests (capacity: 80-100) and it was the end of lunch at 2:45pm (few other guests to be expected) yet the landlord took extreme exception to me sitting near the one plug socket he had to charge my phone over lunch to carry on my hike, as that was a table for four. I was told to sit on a table for one (no plug socket) or get out. Given the choice, head on to the next restaurant.

Muito perto há uma farmácia caso seja necessário.
Lugar sossegado, casa e quarto aceitaveis.
Escolhemos ficar num quarto de casal.
Dispõe de cozinha sendo possível cozinhar e esta foi a nossa opção. No entanto a nossa chegada questionaram se queriamos jantar pois costumam oferecer transporte para um restaurante perto para jantar.
Nas redondezas não há serviços, restaurantes etc. Se optarem por fazer o proprio jantar devem levar os mantinentos necessários.
Wc partilhado amplo e limpo.
Dispõe de secador de cabelo.
Não inclui pequeno almoço.

Albergue Ninho is great. The downstairs area feels like a cozy cabin in the mountains with the fireplace. The upstairs sleeping area has a grand dining table and beautiful art. There is a great outside sitting area with a view. This is a beautiful place to stay.

Such a great place to stay - clean and good space, but simple and cheep. Sonia, the hostess, was really nice and made sure I had all I needed. Really recommend it!

Casa Sebastiao was clean and organized. The Camino takes you past a great little cafe. Perfect stop for a break or food. Steps away is Case Sebastiao. Perfect room with twin beds and en suite. Very clean. Host took care of my laundry for 3€. Short walk to town gets you to a restaurant with a simple and delicious menu.

The same owner as the Alburgue de Consta tine on the previous village has private rooms above his restaurant. Just a bit up the road on the left where the path crosses the road by the supermarket, you are leaving town.
