The camino no longer passes through Cirueña but runs immediately adjacent. If you need a coffee or breakfast, turn left on the main road and walk about 200 m into the village. Otherwise, press on toward Santo Domingo de la Calzada.

On a Sunday, food is a 200m walk (off the camino) turn left up the top of town. We had 2 hsmburguesas, which were very hearty with bacon, cheese and an egg as well as a fresh orange juice and a coffee for a total of 23Eu.
Just what we needed in the middle of the day for a hearty lunch. They also have the usual tortilla and papas bravis, which seemed popular with the locals, who were all lovely to us (unlike other comments on here).

In this ugly little town there is an excellent Albergue: Albergue virgen de Guadalupe. €15. Facilities are new and clean. Owner is very helpful. The rooms have only two bunkbeds each, single level. We were there on July 3, 2024. This must have been a little late in the season because he was no longer serving meals. This is a shame because the only restaurant is Bar Jacoby and it’s not very pleasant. Although the food at the restaurant was quite good, the service and atmosphere are rather poor: either loud rock music inside or cigarette smoke outside.

I stayed at Hotel Guadeloupe on June 6th which was rustic, but fine, but I chose it for the pilgrim meal reviews. However there were only 2 of us there that night so the owner decided not to cook.
The bar was only open between 7:00pm and 9:00om, the bar tender had only just woken up (still had creases on her face from the pillow) the place was a mess, dirty dishes everywhere, bread on the floor, but with no other choice I was starving, it had been a very long, it day .
€20 for 1 small beer, a tuna salad (no tomato as they didn't have any) and some soggy fries!
Worst meal on the Camino Frances to far. Had Inot already reached my pain threshold for the day, I would have kept on walking.

Very unfriendly person at the counter. Uncomfortable. Sandwich was not good . Recommend passing this place by.

Needed water so walked up the hill to Bar Jacob. Surly service, strange locals. Felt like I was in a Stephen King village. Had to buy a glass of water at the bar to pour into my bottles. Locals close to hostile.

You see a golf course. Then all these empty apartment buildings. I was waiting for zombies. It seriously felt like a horror flick. Just keep walking and get to the old village with bar and albergues. Bar was friendly and good. Albergue Victoria was nice and clean. Definitely oddest stop on trail. ( history.. they built golf course.. then all the apartments thinking people would come. They didn’t. )

Seems decent enough. The hospitalero at Albergue Victoria seems friendly/kind.

Fyi: as of June 14 the google maps location for Albergue Victoria is incorrect. This app has the correct address.

This is the first town where I was greeted with extreme unfriendliness.
Couldn’t find a place to stay even though I’d made a reservation.
I finally found an apartment for 128 Euro (could sleep 2, very mediocre with no WiFi)
Do NOT plan on staying in this town.

Very nice albergue; reasonably priced. If you are doing the between stops, look into it. Lovely place.
