A small village on the Vía Trajana with a bar and an albergue. The 'little brothers' in the name refers to the Augustinian friars who once maintained a pilgrim hospital here. The village has a peaceful, off-the-beaten-track quality that's increasingly rare on the Francés.

The Road

The Vía Trajana continues through flat farmland before converging with the Camino Real route ahead of Mansilla de las Mulas.

Our group split up, with some of us going direct to Mansilla, and others going via Reliegos.

Direct to Mansilla continued with much the same scenery as the road into Calzadilla de los Hermanillos, but quickly approached the provincial prison, where loudspeakers could be heard. Not much shade along the way.

Via Reliegos, a quick walk into town, and then a shaded footpath next to the road for most of the way into Mansilla.

I’m staying at the Trejana— a lovely, cozy albergue and I have an extra bunk in my private room. Posting here for a pilgrim in need. I’ll split the cost — hotttt showers, delish dinner, fireplace, & good friends.

We stayed here the end of October and found it to be the perfect place to stay. Only a few rooms were occupied because of the end of season stay. Love the fireplace in the dining room as we are a wonderfully prepared meal and drank Rioja wine. Perfect stay with kind people who put up with my bad Spanish. Very clean private rooms.

Highly recommend for a couple of reasons, we preferred this quieter route, getting away from the crowds and as an added bonus staying at the very comfortable Via Trajana. The hosts are amazing and Mama's cooking was so good. Lunch, dinner and breakfast!

Without a doubt the best place we have stayed along The way. Fantastic hosts, comfy warm beds 😀, great and hot showers, clean facilities , multiple and handy power points. Pilgrim dinner with multiple options for all 3 courses. Open at 10 so could do early checking. Very flexible with checkout. 10 out of 10!

We were very happy with our twin rooms at Via Trajana. All the staff there were so kind and friendly. They did not get frustrated with our poor Spanish. The breakfast of bacon and eggs was superb!!

The small grocery shop is open in the morning and evening.
On Saturday, the bar/restaurant opened at 1pm.

What an amazingly lovely albergue! Clean and cozy rooms, no bunk beds (at least in our room of five), spotless bathrooms, delicious food in the restaurant, and the hostess and host are beyond amazing! Highly recommend Albergue Via Trajana!

No bars for breakfast are open as of 21 Sept 2020. Small supermarket open from 10am - 2pm.
If you start from Sahagun either have breakfast there or choose the other route next to the motorway or bring enough snacks
