Manciet is a small village first documented in 1170, with a classic rectangular bastide layout -- about 200 meters long by 85 meters wide, a main street with gates at each end, and houses built in the Armagnac colombage style (timber-framing on stone ground floors). The Manciet arenas host course landaise, a form of bull-leaping distinct from Spanish bullfighting -- a distinctly Gascon tradition you'll encounter increasingly as you head southwest toward the Landes.

The area around Manciet once hosted a Templar hospital at Cosset, which later became Barcelonne-du-Gers. Services are basic.

On the Road to Santiago de Compostela, there is this village that could be described more as a departmental road.

No safety provisions for pilgrims, you walk along a departmental road, On asphalt, where cars are at least 70 km per hour. And as you can imagine, increasingly faster. I hope you have faith, because you will need it to avoid trucks and cars.

Impossible to reach the town hall at 9:45 this Friday morning to discuss it, No bakery, in short, this place does not deserve the passage of pilgrims and even less stopping there
