Puente de Domingo Flórez is the last town in El Bierzo before crossing into Galicia. It has a pharmacy, supermarkets, bars, an ATM, a medical center, and one hostal.

The camino route through town involves an unnecessary loop via two bridges. You can avoid it by taking a straight shot across town: descending on Calle Real, turn right on Calle el Toral to reach Café Bar Los Arcos before the square. Continue straight past Bar el Cruce (very pilgrim-friendly) to rejoin the camino on Avenida de Orense.

The Road

At the intersection with Calle Chao de Marco, turn left. When it curves right, turn left at the Día supermarket (a mojón will direct you) onto Calle Acceso Quereño. You'll cross the bridge into Galicia. About 50 m after the railway bridge, Bar Estanco is opposite the Quereño station.

After crossing the bridge, the camino makes a large U-shaped loop. Pass the electricity pylons on your left, go under the railway bridge, and take the middle of the three roads ahead, looping past houses into Quereño.

Someone stopped us on the way into town asking if we were planning on staying in the sport center that evening. We waited at the bar across the street until someone came to let us in. 4 beds in 2 bunks. We were the only two pilgrims there that night.

Just a note if you plan to stay here on a warm day: the sports center acts as a big greenhouse and our room was extremely warm. It was impossible to get a cross breeze in there and it never cooled off overnight. It was a rough night of sleeping but what can you do.

We had a nice vegetarian dinner at the bar across the street: a large salad, patatas bravas, and some croquettes. Was very tasty.

People are saying to call a number to get the key to the sports center, but nobody has given the number or maybe it’s here and I just can’t find it. Can somebody please list the number thanks.

The Albergue Municipal is under construction. You can call the host and he leaves the keys for you in the sports center on the other side of the street.

Unfortunately Casa Rosa was closed. The village has a small bar with coffee.
Not much to do or see. We met 80 years old Paul here. His third Camino!

Few minutes walk and such a friendly welcome. Great wine and beer . The chicken comes in a special sauce that I wanted to lick the plate even . Nice macaroni cheese . And playing a very relaxing Spanish music . Definitely recommend ❤️

Lovely clean option with a really good Brekky from 7 am to 8 am served in a snug little sitting room which you can use in the evening as well, located next door. Max 8 beds you can book. Cafeteria Los arcos around the corner sells the most enormous bocadillos. The Coviram supermarket is open early in the evening and a 2 minute walk away. Bodega chill out is a relatively new bar run by a young couple that speak English. The location is amazing next to the river.
As we had only walked 16 k from Borrenes we left our packs with Rosa and walked onto Sobradelo where the lady in cafeteria pontenova called us a taxi after a well earned Aquarius , we then arranged to go back to Sobradelo thd following morning 11 € each way
