Valtuille de Arriba

Pieros is a small village between Cacabelos and Villafranca del Bierzo. A bar and an albergue provide basic services. The vineyards continue on both sides of the road.

Near here, a variant route branches off through Valtuille de Arriba — a quieter path through the vineyards that adds about 1 km but avoids the road.

The Road

The main route follows the road to Villafranca. The Valtuille variant is more pleasant walking but slightly longer.

This albergue is kind of hidden at first, however it can be reached directly from the Camino.

If you're looking for a peaceful, welcoming place, make a stop here and you'll find a lovely garden and a beautiful albergue.

Fabrizio hosted me and was very nice and helpful.

On the road, you'll see a lovely shed which belongs together with the albergue, where you can stop for a coffee and a snack.

It's worth a visit.

The best meal and best sleep of the Camino in Albergue Serbal y Luna in Pieros. Mar and her team epitomize the spirit and philosophy of the Camino. From the moment I got in touch I felt cared for and welcome. Mar is an amazing chef and prepared the most incredible Veggie meal for me. It was worth the extra 2km walk from Cacabelos.

The road route follows a stream much of the way. No effort has been made to bring the route along the stream instead of along a road. This is, to say the least, thoughtless.
