Casacamiños

As Seixas has a couple of bars and marks the last significant stop before the camino descends through increasingly hilly terrain toward Melide. The name recalls the granite bedrock (seixo = pebble/stone) that underlies much of inland Galicia.

The Road

Beyond As Seixas the camino leaves the road and follows a trail to Casacamiños.

Gorinos bar is also an albergue, which I do NOT recommend. I asked to see the room, the manager said no. In decades of travel that request has never been declined, so I asked again to be clear, and he understood and repeated a firm no. He was not busy – so either he just didn’t care or he knew some reason his rooms do not present well – either way, I kept walking. If an albergue keeper doesn’t give a hoot, they have no business being on the Camino.
PS when I got to my eventual albergue , another guy I met there had the same experience that day at Gorinos – distinct impression the manager could not care less.

Beautiful stone building with super-modern interior. Really friendly and helpful staff who took me to the local Gorinos bar which was a similar great architectural stone building renovation with glass internal walls. Had delicious lentil and chorizos soup. Highly recommended…. well worth pushing on the extra km from Lugo to stay here.

Casa Gorino is the only bar in the area here and I was served raw chicken, cold fabada and with an extremely poor attitude from the waitress.

The Albergue accomodation is nice but cooking options are limited so I would avoid this stop if I could do it again.

Don’t usually leave bad reviews but hope this helps some pilgrims.

This lovely little bar with homemade lemon cake and other light bites is open. Sunny outdoor and indoor spaces. Clean bathroom. A lovely break!

Beautiful old stone Albergue that is really clean and modern . There is a kitchen but no cooking items . A frig , microwave and stove and the only local bar was closed. About 3.30 pm a van arrived and we could buy foods like , salami , cheese , yoghurt, fruit etc , and then a bread van arrives at 4.30 pm . Don’t know why the Bar was closed , was a Thursday, so maybe just closed Thursdays . 10€ , a bargain.

We then went to the albergue A Torqueira to eat something

The albergue at the beginning of town was closed today, but two nice bars are open for coffee, snacks, food.
