Roman Bridge

Roman Bridge

A well-preserved Roman bridge sits below Cirauqui where the ancient road crosses a small stream. The paving stones of the Roman calzada are visible on the approach, giving a tangible sense of walking the same route that travelers have used for two millennia. The bridge is a single arch of good masonry — functional rather than decorative, like most Roman engineering.

From here the path continues through farmland toward Lorca, with the terrain gently undulating through fields of wheat and sunflowers.

Lovely area, but no one here today.

Camino de Sant…

Lovely rest station past the bridge, with food, drink, books, and clothes put out for pilgrims amidst an olive garden, donation requested. Definitely deserves our support. And they have a stamp!

Camino de Sant…

It’s a beautiful area to plan a rest stop but there was really nothing out. I assume that’s because it’s early in the season. Would’ve loved to have bought something or helped build the rest stop but can’t afford it.

Camino de Sant…

3 km past the bridge is THE BEST REST STOP IN the history of rest stops. It's a free/donation site put up by a young entrepreneur who offers drinks, local wine, fruit, and a zen experience amidst an olive orchid. Well worth a stop given the last town didn't offer much.
