A beautiful riverside spot with a bar, a patio, and a medieval bridge. The river water is cold and perfect for soaking tired feet. The old pilgrim hospital has been converted into an albergue — one of the more atmospheric on this section.

This is one of the last truly peaceful stops before the approach to Santiago brings increasing traffic and noise.

The Road

The climb from Ribadiso to Arzúa is steady. By the time you reach the road, it levels off and the remaining distance into town is flat.

Cute room comfy bed, barely warm water in shower you had to reset every 10 seconds- no detachable shower head -mostly see these in Donativos. Cheap towels.
Reception rude and chatted with someone loudly while I waited about 15 mins- after walking 28 kms (72 years old)

We tried to order breakfast tostados twice to go with our cafes. Woman at the counter had a 15 minute phone conversation, acknowledged orders (not otherwise busy) but never actually got tostados. Used to slow or indifferent service (and the opposite!) by now, but this seemed deliberate.

The restaurant called ribadiso, has very rude staff. I asked if i could have a tea instead of the dessert in the pilgrim menu. He just laughed and said u only get what u see in the menu.

It’s unfortunate that this is the only place in town to eat, as we agree with the opinion that waiter was rude & it felt like he was being put out by doing his job.
One staff person at the Restaurant was somewhat pleasant, but the rest seemed surly & unwelcoming.

The public albergue at Ribadiso is in a beautiful setting. The grounds are spacious and green. Kitchen available but not many utensils. How often do you get to sleep in a medieval building beside a river? If you have a tent, you can camp there too. Nice bathhouse and laundry facilities.

Only one restaurant in town, Meson Ribidiso… they are very understaffed and the waiter is quite rude. The food was average and overpriced. los caminantes is okay to stay but the rooms need some upkeep for the price we paid €45. I would walk on to Aruza next time.

“Bar near the river” doesn’t quite capture this. Beautiful rustic rural village with restaurant gastronomique and upscale pension with a soothing pool facing the rolling hills. If all you need is a comfy bed and great food, this is the spot

Had the cutest little room with a Dutch door. Plenty of blankets and hot water. Really liked the staff
