The Road

After walking 26 km do you dream about food? I do. That’s when I arrive at Viña Femita. At 2 pm. Juan is the person who host you. He is absolutely nice. Offered me a caña. Super! When I asked for food. He took me to the restaurant. It had a real comfort food. The best I had in 590 km.

Take ruta dragonte for a real challenge with beautiful views and solitude on the otherwise busy Camino trail.

Make sure to download a gps map to aid with the route as way marking is limited

Maria and het mother are pelgrim angels.
The place is fantastic and they are doing everything they can to make everybody happy and comfortable.

I asked Maria if there might be a shop where they would sell toe socks.

Then a box came along leaving stuff under the counter and I was so lucky to get my toe socks 😀

For the beds, you get cotton sheets and they help you with the laundry.

Thanks to Maria and her family for this wonderful stay.

Don't skip this place 😉

This albergue is really the best I have been during the camino. No bunkbeds, blankets, great shower, very friendly staff, good food and not expensive (16 euro for a bed, 15 euro dinner).

By far the best albergue I’ve stayed at. Honestly, better than some of the hostales and pensiones I’ve stayed in as well. Comfortable beds (no bunk beds) all with their own light and outlet, large and clean showers, tasty food. Cannot recommend enough!

We couldn’t believe we had the address correct when we limped into Villafranca and found ourselves in front of a massive and ornate stone building that looked like a palace. Inside there are painted murals and massive staircases and beautiful stone arches down the wide hallways. A beautiful interior courtyard to relax and enjoy a restful afternoon. Our room was great - twin beds and private bathroom and no more expensive than the usual private pensión or albergue rooms we’ve stayed in.
This was a highlight of the trip for us!

Echoing the comments re Viña Femita. Such an excellent Albergue, thought i was in the wrong place for a second. There is also no curfew as long as you come in respectfully to the other guests.

For some reason Albergue Viña Femita isn’t listed in the app at this time, but it does show up in booking.com. The owner,Juan, is wonderful & makes you feel like family. His mother cooks the meals & the wine is from his father’s vineyard. No bunk beds, clean sheets & blanket on every bed, spacious bathrooms (separate men’s/women’s), plenty of sinks, toilets & showers, good showers with large dry area outside shower door to change in privacy. Washer & dryer available (4 euros each). Good pilgrim meal available also.
