PROs
- avoid the hill start in the morning
- sheets provided (09/24) and they give blankets.
- lots of bedbug prevention measures
- separate male and female bedrooms
- €15 is not so expensive

CONs
- a mouse ate my sandwich- don’t leave food in the bedroom even in a plastic bag
- dinner was expensive for €15 but it is a good communal experience and they did provide a vegetarian option
- check in process was really slow and didn’t start til after 3.10. They explain to you in groups the system of boxes so I didn’t get a shower or chance to wash clothes until late
- laundry didn’t dry (partly because no more sun by time clothes were washed!)
- cold, although the blankets helped
- noisy lockers and kettle next to female bedroom, plus all the men came through in the morning to get out

Our stay here was wonderful and really had comforts of home without a private room! Friendly, welcoming, and oh so observant to everyone’s needs! Without the packed breakfast( which we ate all day on the way to Markina during mid-slogging and off and on rain, we may not have had the fortitude!
Dinner was delicious and so beautifully presented
Communal style!

Keep serving pilgrims on the Camino!

PS. Our clothes didn’t dry but were clean in the washing machine so we dried them for 3 euro in the quite nice ( autoservicio Ecolaundry) laundromat in the center of Markina!

Super chouette accueil même sans avoir réservé, au milieu de nulle part et après une grande grande montée ! 👍

I had a great night here. Really friendly welcoming hosts, good dinner, and everything is made to have a perfect time . Felt like a "Camino family". I really loved to stay here.

Nice albergue with a well thought-out system of locked-up backpacks and boxes to take to your bed. Great way to prevent bed bugs but also reduce the morning noise of early risers as they just take there stuff out. Bed with sheets is 15€, dinner also 15€ (vegetarian option available). 5€ for prepackaged breakfast including a coffee thingy for the machine in the morning, banana, mandarins, croissants, bread and so on. Not cheap but practical. Drinks at the bar are quite expensive, too, but do you want to carry your beer uphill? I didn’t. Enjoyed it in the beautiful garden.

Nice place and nice staff. God price for a beer!
Good food, and it is possible to wash the laundry.
I really liked to stay here.

Had a great experience here. Met lots of great people. The bar was amazing and the communal meal brilliant. We had the option of purchasing a packed breakfast. Such a great atmosphere. Everything clean.

Clean, good food and a nice bar. I particularly like how you have to store your back pack and take to the room your essentials. I’m had a great night of sleep on a full belly.

The alberque is clean and nicely decorated. Clean sheets on the beds. Blankets available. In this time of the year no dinner or breakfast. Possibility to order food in neigbourhood and a Italian restaurant nearby!

It's a nice location with a beautiful garden and a bar where locals go to as well, so that was lovely. Well organised and clean.
On the other hand, for 15 euros in a private I wasn't too impressed they didn't even give sheets; the 15 Eur dinner definitely wasn't worth it (salad and pasta with very little veg in the pasta sauce).
It is good though to stay here instead of deba because then you don't have that uphill 5k in the morning after Deba when the way from here to Markina is already pretty exhausting, so it makes the next stage much better (the long uphill on the way to markina used to be in the shade, but they had to fell the trees).
There is little to no servicios until Markina, and no fountains, so make sure to bring all your water and snacks on the way.
