Albergue de San Juan de Villapañada

San Juan de Villapañada

Description and Notice

This is a fairly basic albergue but is run with dedication by Domingo, who appears in the evenings to sit with pilgrims and give them a detailed account of the primitivo; as well as his recommendations on where and what to eat. There are no facilities in the town, so bring whatever you need with you from Grado.

Domenico is very hospitable, available for everything and responds on WhatsApp for questions. There are beers and wines ready in the fridge at very low prices and some food items with a minimal selection, but bring your own food anyway. A magical place in the middle of nature.

So the place isn't as well stocked as the previous posters from 2018 found. Coffee machine doesn't work for example. And the night I was there Domingo did not cook. But there was pasta and sauce we could make and yoghurt and eggs and beer in the fridge. Domingo was very friendly. There were only a few of us there and the place was quiet and comfortable and the views and mountain air were amazing. Very hot shower (one each for men and women). Toilet was a touch crowded but a small complaint. I really liked it.

Camino de Sant…

Very hospitable host. They got pretty much everything in the albergue so don’t worry for extra kg for food from Grado. Vending machine for water/juice/hot drinks, beer and vine in the fridge for very good price. Eggs, breads are also there as well. The host will keep them enough everyday, just pay some money and bring only what you really need from Grado to save the kgs. Also the kitchen is nice, very good value for a municipal albergue

Camino de Sant…

Very friendly place but room is a bit crowded. Bathroom, shower is okay. Domingo was cooking for the pilgrims and there was a joint dinner. Good place for a stop!
