The iron bridge that carries the railway across the Rio Lima is commonly attributed to Gustave Eiffel's engineering firm, and its industrial elegance certainly fits his style. The bridge dates to 1878 and served as a critical link in the railway network connecting Porto to Viana do Castelo. You'll cross the river on the road bridge alongside it, with the iron structure in full view to your left.

Camino de Sant…

vor drei tagen wurde eine pilgerin wenige kilometer vor der brücke, neben einer schule von einem exhibitionisten belästigt. die per 112 gerufene polizei konnte den täter, der aus einem weissen auto gestiegen war, nicht ermitteln. also bitte wachsam sein, besonders als weibliche einzelpilger.

This is a long bridge, and during rush hour very high traffic flow. From Darque, approach bridge on left side, that’s where the pedestrian walkway is. Additionally, if you want to sleep at the Cloister, once across bridge, u-turn and go under bridge to get there.
