Pour entrer en ville et en ressortir, rien de plus simple. Il existe un itinéraire alternatif qui est signé et qui te fait traverser la ville plus près de la rivière.

En tant que ville, Redondela a ses charmes. Elle se trouve bien à l'intérieur des terres de l'estuaire de Vigo et est traversée par deux ponts ferroviaires massifs.

The Road

En quittant la ville, le camino croise la N550 à un goulot d'étranglement du côté nord de la ville, où la circulation est dense à toute heure. Traverse la N550 dès que tu y arrives et, presque immédiatement, tourne doucement à gauche sur une route secondaire.

Les flèches d'ici laissent un peu à désirer. Elles sont présentes, mais ont été peintes à la bombe avec un jaune pas tout à fait correct et par moments, elles ne semblent pas légitimes. Suivez-les tout de même, et à l'approche de Cesantes, les bornes en pierre reviennent.

A wonderful place if you need an inexpensive hostal. Augusto is the proprieter. Big family room. Nice kitchen. In center of town. I can't believe my luck in having found it

We had a lovely meal here. We were surprised to be the only pilgrims there for two hours, full of locals out for dinner. Great vegetarian options and vegan ones too.

If you have time, take a walk along the beautiful path along the estuary. It’s on your left as you pass through the northern end of town. It’s mostly boardwalk for about 1.2km and takes in cute houses and fishing boats along the estuary. We saw nesting nesting swans. It’s really quite lovely and worth seeing. Gives you a whole other perspective of Redondela.

Staying here was like heaven! A little apartment with a double bed, couch, own bathroom, kitchen and Netflix felt like a little escape that rejuvenated the spirit!

There is a beautiful waterfall combined with a very old mill on the southeast of Redondela called Fervenza da Feixa. It is really worth exploring if you are not to tired- maybe a ten minute walk from city center. If you to make it even more memorable , there is a Taparia in one of the old mill building called Muino Vello (old mill). The rustic, special seating is along the beautiful stream. Tapas run 4 to 12 Euro, and are large and excellent. It makes the meal an outing.

Half way between Vigo and Redonella, there is a little cafe with a beautiful view over the bay and the big bridge. It’s called O Eido Vello. Very charming hostess 😉
