L'Iglesia de San Martín de Calzadilla, peut-être l'église la moins visitée le long du camino, présente une généreuse exposition de croix de Santiago.

Le meilleur menu, et le plus créatif, de la ville se trouve chez Los Canarios.

The Road

Le camino entre ici et Ledigos, soit une distance de 6,2 km, comporte plusieurs détours. Une grande borne en pierre à la sortie de la ville indique les itinéraires possibles à venir. Ces variantes t'emmèneront plus loin dans la colline et à l'écart de la route. La plupart se rejoignent peu avant d'entrer dans Ledigos, mais celle qui reste le plus à gauche/ouest (connue sous le nom de Route des Palomares en raison du nombre de pigeonniers sur le chemin) contourne à la fois Ledigo et Teradilllos et constitue l'itinéraire le plus court vers Moratinos.

I stayed at Albergue Los Canarios back in 2017 and had the best ever pilgrim dinner at their restaurant. I don't remember what my first course was, but the second course was roasted lemon chicken with roasted potatoes (no French fries!) and red pepper puree. When I returned to Calzadilla de la Cueza this year I crossed my fingers that they were still serving this excellent menú and fortunately they are. I started with a delicious gazpacho and once again had the lemon chicken. Still the best!

I booked a private room which is a different building a little ways to the left of the albergue you run into when arriving to this small village. It was a pleasant enough stay. Kind people, good enough food, clean room with a private bathroom. I love the interior plants.

Nataneal is a great host, friendly & welcoming. The pool is large enough to swim in, cool & clean. There are hand washing facilities with soap provided, plus a washing machine & tumble dryer if required. For only 10 euros, we were very happy. Breakfast was outstanding! 3 euros for a great buffet that would have cost €5 or. €6 elsewhere. The albergue is still a work in progress- so get there early to get showered before the rush

This place is so modern and comfortable… totally clean ofcourse.
I felt almost like having a hotel room :)

After the highway of pilgrims in the morning I had a wonderful and peaceful afternoon from Calzadilla to Moratinos without seeing another person. To do this take the most southern of the routes to bypass Ledigos, but you need this app to navigate the myriad of local tracks and sometimes you are feeling you are heading way off course. But well worth it.

Very beautiful, digest and far nicer than slogging along the road

Along a ridge, through some ancient woodland with lichen covered trees

However I do not know why you say it is shorter: the route you indicate is about 2km longer than the road (which is naturally the most direct)

That said… Rather than directly rejoin I used Google maps and carried on the path by Población del Arroyo to rejoin at San Nicholas so that did shorten things

Recommended

Just negate there is *a* recommended route dors not mean it is the only path

I'm glad I had the app because there was no sign posting but that meant we didn't see anyone for the whole 6 or 7 K to Ledigos. It was beautiful with a lovely variety of landscapes.

Monica, at 200 Calle Mayor, gives great 25 Euro 1 hour massages. She has a sign out and also a sign as you enter town.

Camino de Sant…

We took the Palomares Route but if we hadn’t been tracking ourselves on this app we would have been lost, NO markings however it was so WORTH it! You don’t feel like it’s shorter at all until after Ledigos. Peaceful freedom in the hillside, wow take the alt but check on this app to make sure not to get lost!

The alternate route leaving Calzadilla takes you away from the highway and is quite lovely walking thru the fields.
