El bar de San Román abre todos los días a partir de las 11 de la mañana. Son simpáticos y serviciales, y están al tanto de la disponibilidad de camas en los dos albergues que hay más arriba en el camino, que a menudo figuran como de San Román.

The Road

Aquí las cosas tienden a complicarse un poco si no eres plenamente consciente. San Román se encuentra en la intersección de dos caminos rurales, y desde aquí el camino toma dos direcciones distintas, o al menos así era hasta el año pasado. Esto significa que todavía pueden existir flechas antiguas que te lleven a Palas de Rei en el Camino Francés en lugar de a Melide.

Desde el bar de San Román dirígete hacia el oeste (gira a la derecha al salir del bar). Cuando salgas a la carretera unos 70 m después, cruza la carretera y toma el camino de enfrente. Los albergues están a poca distancia.

As of 2024 you can get a beer at O’Candido where we are staying and basic food. Also before turning down the lane to the albergues there was a bar that seemed to be open although we didn’t stop. It’s nice here, sitting out amongst the trees. Very peaceful.

The bar about 750 m before the albergue is open and sitting in the sun with a cold beer and giant bocadillo was the highlight of the afternoon. Worth a stop, even if you are heading further on.

I stayed in the public albergue and it was very basic. You could call it cosy and charming...?

The kitchen is in the middle of the room, so not a good set up if others are trying to nap in the afternoon or if you want a morning coffee. A nice stove but only one pot to cook with.

It's a nice place if you are staying with a group of friends but I think too cramped with strangers.

Next time I would skip this town and walk on to Ferreira (but stop for a beer at San Romao tavern)

We had to do the meal service by our self…the cook comes late after 8 PM.

There is a bar at the Albergue O Candido. A very welcome break after all the road walking.

The bar is gone as of july 22. There is a bar at the next Albergue. The young bunch from the municipal came up in the morning and thier buddies let them in so they cleaned out the included breakfast before many of us got to it.

No bar to be found in San Roman. The first option you have in many km is the bar/food service at the Albergue O Candido.
