Der Camino bringt Sie direkt zum Eingangstor des Klosters Monasterio de Armenteira und zu den zwei Bars der Stadt. Direkt vor Ihnen ist die populärere der beiden. Die Albergue ist einige hundert Meter weiter. Folgen Sie den Camino-Pfeilen und sie werden Sie zur Albergue führen.

Wegbeschreibung

Von Armenteira führt der Camino zu einem bei Einheimischen beliebten, sehr schönen Wanderweg, der als Ruta de la Piedra y del Agua bekannt ist.

Die Route verläuft entlang eines Baches mit Wanderwegen auf beiden Seiten. Unterwegs kommen Sie an vielen verlassenen Wassermühlen vorbei. Sie können auf beiden Seiten des Baches sicher und problemlos gehen, aber die rechte Seite hält Sie näher an den Mühlen und am Wasser.

Carlos of Albergue Armenteira is very helpful, he assisted us to book the ferry transfer to Padron when I did not receive any reply from the other side. The Albergue is nice n well planned and clean too, he even informed all the pilgrims about the blessings in the church

We were given this number by another alburgue after finding it hard to get accommodation. Contacted and told they had 1 bed and a mattress left, 2 people travelling so we grabbed it. Get there after hiking 20 odd KMs, to find out that it was 2 mattresses that they had to go dig up from somewhere and that we would be sleeping on the kitchen floor AND the kicker was we couldn't put the mattresses down until after 10pm because people might want to eat. The cost 15 euro. They bothered to tell us this after we had paid and booked in. We asked for our money back for which she deducted 2 euro because we had a cup of coffee each while waiting for the circus to begin. Neither of them speak an ounce of English and will only converse in Spanish and will not try to talk to you. Just rude.

There is a new alburgue in Armenteira- Albergue Caroi, which only opened a month ago. We saw it today. Very clean. There are group rooms and double ensuite rooms. I think they are available on booking.com €25 in a group room or €70 for a private twin room. Free laundry facilities and kitchen area. Views to the monastery.

I agree about O Comercio, absolutely rude and horrible service. They completely ignored me as I stood at the counter for a very long time. They refused to acknowledge me until a local gentleman told them to help me. I then had to practically beg them to pay my bill because they were ignoring my presence. I should have just left without paying because they wouldn’t have noticed anyway.
However, I stayed at Alburgue Armenteira and it’s lovely. A bit off the trail though and there are many flies which are annoying but otherwise it’s clean and comfortable. Carlos is a very kind person.

for lunch & dinner, and lodgings - there is a new private albergue in os castanos and seems more laid back / pilgrim-friendly.

Otherwise, practice your Spanish - it will make things easier. and try make reservations at the private albergues in 2 days in advance.

They do not take reservations in the summer season, so was similar to the albergues (first come, first served). Their hours of operation are odd though - please check their website. https://www.monasteriodearmenteira.es/peregrinos/

They were a lifesaver to me who had no accommodation.

There is wrong information about this Albergue in the app. They don’t serve dinner or breakfast- you will have to walk 1 km to Armanteira Monestery

One of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in Galicia. We waited over 40 minutes for a single, poorly cooked pork steak served with stale French fries and a sad excuse for a salad (literally two limp leaves). The waiters were rude and completely uninterested, and when we asked to split the bill (we were sitting with a friend we happened to meet), they refused with an aggressive attitude.

This place feels like a tourist trap—overpriced, low quality, and absolutely no respect for customers. The only good thing was walking away from it.

Go a few meters further to ‘A Fonte’, a much smaller bar with far better food, friendly service, and a more authentic atmosphere. Don’t waste your time or money here.
