Nach vielen Tagen auf dem Camino fühlte sich die Ankunft in der Quinta Estrada Romana an wie das Finden eines kleinen Stücks Himmel. Versteckt in der ruhigen Landschaft von Cerdal, in der Nähe von Valença, hat diese Herberge eine friedliche, einladende Energie, die dir noch lange nach deinem Abgang bleibt.

In dem Moment, als ich durchs Tor ging, fühlte ich mich zu Hause. Der Wirt begrüßte mich mit Freundlichkeit und echter Wärme — man kann sehen, dass dieser Ort mit Liebe und Respekt für Pilger geschaffen wurde. Das alte Haus wurde wunderschön restauriert und verbindet Geschichte und Komfort auf die beste mögliche Weise. Alles war makellos sauber, die Betten waren super bequem, und die Duschen waren perfekt nach einem langen Wandertag.

Was diese Herberge wirklich besonders macht, ist die Atmosphäre. Der Garten ist atemberaubend — voller Leben, Bananenbäumen, Blumen und Plätzen zum Sitzen und Ausruhen. Ich verbrachte einen Abend dort mit anderen Pilgern, kochte, lachte und sah zu, wie die Sonne über den Hügeln unterging. Es erinnerte mich, warum ich das Wandern angefangen habe.

Es gibt auch ein Frauenschlafsaal, das meine Mitpilger wegen seiner ruhigen und sicheren Umgebung zu schätzen wussten.

Wenn du nach Santiago wanderst und einen Ort suchst, der sowohl Körper als auch Geist nährt, verpasse nicht die Quinta Estrada Romana. Es ist mehr als ein Stopp — es ist eine Erinnerung, die du bis zur Kathedrale mit dir trägst.

The host are very friendly and the place was beautiful. It was nice to hangout in the yard after a long day of walking. However, please keep in mind you CANNOT cook your own meals here. They do not allow you to use the kitchen. They do provide a family dinner for 13 euros (at least) per person. I think this is important to note because anyone with allergies or food sensitivity might have a difficult time finding a way to eat dinner. We had bought pasta before we arrived and were unable to cook it.

All in all, super friendly host & a nice and clean place to sleep! (: Buen Camino!!!

Diogo is a one of the best host we had during the camino portugues. The albergue is beautiful, in a calm and friendly environment. The garden is just perfect to rest during the afternoon! The common meal (donation) during the evening is just a fantastic moment to share with everybody. Diogo gave us as well many tips and a great route to finish the camino. I really really love it ! Go for it !

A phenomenal stay. Feels like home, super comfortable and an incredible shared dinner. Plus a wholesome breakfast in the morning. Loved my stay here and highly recommend this spot. Diego provides you with great tips for the remainder of your Camino. Loved it here!

Once you walk in the door, you become family. Accommodations are beautiful and clean. All the pilgrims joined in a “family meal” costing a donation. Breakfast was simple, but available any time. Diego (?) gave us tips for the Camino.

This is a beautifully restored farmhouse where the host and his family also live in private quarters. Diego made us a homemade soup and meal with fresh tomato sauce. His young son joined our table and we had a delightful evening. The hostel is clean and one of my favorite on the path!
