I opted to stay here on a day when it was freezing cold and pouring rain. Apparently, this was not a popular choice because no other pilgrims joined me. As the day wore on, the hospitaleros invited me to join them for lunch (even though it is not usually included in your stay) and we shared tomatoes and grilled onions, roasted peppers, blood sausage, and fish soup. It was so delicious. They treated me to wine and for dessert, apples from the tree outside marinated in cinnamon and sugar. As evening came, the weather got even colder and turned into very heavy rain. They drove me to town, bought me dinner and beers, and then invited me to stay with them at their house rather than the cold, empty monastery. It wasn’t the experience I was expecting, but it has been my favorite so far. Definitely stay here if you can. Sleeping among the ruins of the monastery, I am sure, is amazing. But even more amazing is the authentic experience with some really great people. I highly recommend!

Probably my most memorable Camino experience to date. If you can handle a cold shower with minimal water pressure and not being able to charge your phone the atmosphere of sleeping in such a unique place more than compensates. Hospitalteros were great authentic fellows.

This is truly a special place! I stayed last night and they were at full capacity with all 12 beds full. No electric, some cold water for a shower, a nice simple meal with great company, a small perfect breakfast. I loved this place!
