Storia

Il nome della città testimonia l'affermazione che fu colonizzata dai francesi seguaci del primo re del Portogallo.

Il cammino

Il Cammino passa attraverso i giardini comunali e poi sotto la N10. Da questo punto in poi, il nuovo Cammino potrebbe confondersi con il vecchio percorso. Poco dopo essere passato sotto la N10, il Cammino passa davanti a una piccola fabbrica e poi gira a destra. > Girando a destra, il Cammino prosegue lungo un percorso molto più tranquillo e sicuro fino alla Vala do Carregado.

NOTA: Le vecchie frecce che indicavano la strada trafficata possono ancora esistere.

Decisamente una raccomandazione! Ospite amichevole, camera spaziosa e pulita a 400m dalla stazione. Il percorso passa vicino alla stazione.

Ho avuto il miglior pranzo presso "150 Gramas", il polpo era una delizia e la crostata al limone con meringa per terminare era squisita. Felice cammino.

Ero qui il 6 luglio e stavano appena finendo il loro Red Vest Festival. La città è stata una grande festa tutto il fine settimana. Se stai pianificando il Cammino all'inizio di luglio, potrebbe valere la pena notarlo (per partecipare o evitare come preferisci!)
Come nella maggior parte dei luoghi sul Cammino, domenica è stata piuttosto deserta per i negozi, anche con il festival.

Ho avuto un pasto straordinario presso Tasco da Ilda a VFDX. La proprietaria e suo marito sono stati padroni di casa meravigliosi, molto cordiali e attenti. Il cibo era eccellente, in particolare le crocchette di carne e il tartare di tonno. Classificato tra i migliori ristoranti del Portogallo. Non deluderà

It was worth waiting for a table at restaurante o retiro. Busy and really good atmosphere. Delicious meal and very friendly staff. We had a drink at the bar next door while we waited. Completely different but also nice in its own way, very friendly owners.

We stayed at the Lezeiria hotel, a lovely and comfy spot for a great nights sleep. Directions to leave this morning are a little confusing. Yesterday we walked the narrow N 10 and found it a little dangerous on some roads but hoping to jump back onto the new path, i will follow up after for more clarity

A very pretty and delightful town, lots of locals out catching up for coffee or a drink in the many outdoor (for this time of year) cafes. I seem to be the only pilgrim in town on this day, but found an amazing little restaurant, Maioral restaurant and bar, right next to Hopedaria Maioral, fabulous meal and lovely staff.

After a 40km walk from Lisbon on Day 1 of my Camino, it was wonderful to get into Villa Franca. Cute town worth an hour or so to wander around

Fair big local town without tourism. Charming with local well makeup ladies who were chatting and greeting each other on the street , in cafe in the morning. Very local fabrics.
