There are two supermarkets in Triacastela. The other smaller one is fine. ACE is rude and unpleasant. Have to leave rucksacks outside and sold us rotten fruit. Really unpleasant vibe. Avoid if possible

Took the alternative red route and stayed in Samos. The monastery here is beautiful, but the route to get here was very different than what I’ve seen on the Frances. There were several abandoned villages that were sketchy with vacant buildings and no one in sight. As a young woman, I didn’t feel safe or at peace. Walk with other pilgrims if you plan to go to Samos and take this route.

Pension Xacobeo offers very clean, spacious and modern accommodation and is very well equipped to cater for all ranges of travellers. There is a garage with electric charging points for electric cycles, commercial washing and drying machines which dispense their own detergents and a few doors away, the hostel owns a bar which also serves food with menus translated into many languages . There is a large seating area for self-catering diners although the kitchen is rather small. Highly recommended.

Excellent place to stay. Large, clean, Modern room right in town. Good value, reasonable. Pleasant host.

Coming through the farming cute stone village just before Triacastela where 2 big dogs, one was tied up the other one leapt up and bit my back pack pulling me over. At the first bar we met a girl who had been attacked by the same dog, it had ripped her backpack. I didn’t even see the dogs, taken by complete surprise.

If going to Samos getting food can be challenging on a Sunday

I used Casa David today and was initially concerned because of a recent negative review. I’m pleased to report our quarters were as described, clean and cozy… no complaints on our end.

The staff was ready for us when we arrived and were friendly.

We had dinner at a larger restaurant on the same street, so I can’t comment on the kitchen or food experience.

I chose Casa David because of a recent post by a pilgrim who had gotten bed bugs at a different establishment in Triacastela. I figured I’d rather have unfriendly staff and good accommodations than the bed bugs.

I was happy with our positive experience.

I forgot my own golden rule for the Camino - choose family-run businesses in small towns over bigger, less characterful albergues - because I have a chest infection and was exhausted. Walking through A Balsa this morning, just a little way in from Tricastela, I came across Albergue Ecologico el Beso, which looks just divine. If you're after a more special experience, maybe try there. Buen Camino!!

I've never felt so unwelcome. I would never have eaten there. Bar looked dirty and greasy. The owner didn't like the fact that I dried my things on the terrace either.

Very clean, very pleasant. Great hot water and shower. No food, but there’s plenty down the road. We had a great breakfast at Casa David.
