After many days on the Camino, arriving at Quinta Estrada Romana felt like finding a little piece of heaven. Tucked away in the quiet countryside of Cerdal, near Valença, this albergue has a peaceful, welcoming energy that stays with you long after you leave.

The moment I walked through the gate, I felt at home. The host greeted me with kindness and genuine warmth — you can tell that this place was created with love and respect for pilgrims. The old house has been beautifully restored, mixing history and comfort in the best possible way. Everything was spotless, the beds were super comfortable, and the showers were perfect after a long day of walking.

What makes this albergue truly special, though, is the atmosphere. The garden is stunning — full of life, banana trees, flowers, and places to sit and rest. I shared an evening there with other pilgrims, cooking, laughing, and watching the sun set over the hills. It reminded me why I started walking in the first place.

There’s also a women-only dorm, which my fellow pilgrims appreciated for its calm and safe environment.

If you’re walking toward Santiago and looking for a place that feeds both your body and your spirit, don’t miss Quinta Estrada Romana. It’s more than a stop — it’s a memory you’ll carry with you all the way to the cathedral.
Thank you beautiful family for hosting me.

🙏 A true gem on the Camino. Highly, highly recommended!

The host are very friendly and the place was beautiful. It was nice to hangout in the yard after a long day of walking. However, please keep in mind you CANNOT cook your own meals here. They do not allow you to use the kitchen. They do provide a family dinner for 13 euros (at least) per person. I think this is important to note because anyone with allergies or food sensitivity might have a difficult time finding a way to eat dinner. We had bought pasta before we arrived and were unable to cook it.

All in all, super friendly host & a nice and clean place to sleep! (: Buen Camino!!!

Diogo is a one of the best host we had during the camino portugues. The albergue is beautiful, in a calm and friendly environment. The garden is just perfect to rest during the afternoon! The common meal (donation) during the evening is just a fantastic moment to share with everybody. Diogo gave us as well many tips and a great route to finish the camino. I really really love it ! Go for it !

Once you walk in the door, you become family. Accommodations are beautiful and clean. All the pilgrims joined in a “family meal” costing a donation. Breakfast was simple, but available any time. Diego (?) gave us tips for the Camino.

This is a beautifully restored farmhouse where the host and his family also live in private quarters. Diego made us a homemade soup and meal with fresh tomato sauce. His young son joined our table and we had a delightful evening. The hostel is clean and one of my favorite on the path!
