An amazing and relaxing experience to sleep next to a waterfall. The host was incredible too! It is worth it to walk around 1 km extra from the Camino and come back next morning, it really is.

We walked all the way from Lisbon and this Albergue was the best by FAR. Bathing in a waterfall at the end of the day was such a special experience. The property is gorgeous and Nicklaus was such a kind host. He cooked us a delicious vegetarian meal and sat and ate with us. The dorm room was gorgeous with old olive oil presses on the wall. We fell asleep to the sound of the waterfall underneath the window and had the BEST sleep. DO NOT MISS this beautiful, family-style, communal albergue tucked away in the forest. This experience was so special, I will definitely return if I ever hike the Portuguese way again.

A neat place though cold on the 30th March rainy night. Nickolaus good host. Be nice in warmer weather for sure.

As you make your way up the hill, cross the railway again and you stumble upon a fantastic cafe in the old railway station building - thoroughly recommended!

This place is by far worth the extra 2km. Nickolas (sp?) is a wonderful host. No other albergue on the Camino offers a waterfall shower at the end of the day. If you want a true Pilgrim experience on the way to Porto, you must stop here!!!

This is just a perfect place to stay at when walking the Portuguese Camino. You have a waterfall and a big natural pool where you can cool your body and feet after a long walk in the sun. It's so quiet here and there are hammocks or grass where you can also relax. Great homemade dinner for only 5 euro, you can buy a glass of wine, beer or soda for 1 euro or walk to the nearby village and have a coffe and cake at the bakery (it's closed on Mondays). I was recommended to walk to the coast from here and up to Porto and I will do that. My next stop will be in Avor 😀

very nice host (speaks german, too) who cooked for us for 5 eur/person. bed bunk for 15-17 eur/night. lovely place. the first time i slept without ear plugs just hearing waterfall instead of party crowd or street noise. and i slept very well. lovely rustical place to come down. i planned to sleep a stage at albergaria a nova before, but decided spontanously to work 1 stage further. it was totally worth it. thank you!

Camino de Sant…

The water mill albergue is a fantastic pilgrim stop. Best place to stay on this stretch for sure!

Nikolas was such a wonderful albergue host! He made vegetarian goulash and a warm roll and dessert for me and brought it to me where I sat out in the sun listening to a peaceful waterfall. I HIGHLY recommend staying in this little oasis. It is beautiful and peaceful.
