The Road

Lovely clean place! Offers free washer/dryer which includes laundry detergent. We had a room on the 3rd floor and had a shared balcony. Rooms were perfect

Update on below for albergue caldas de reis urraza: it is not officially municipal, but apparently half the beds can be reserved via booking.com BUT half are left as 'first come first served' for pilgrims too, according to the hostess. So you can come without a reservation, but near 14h30 (in may) it is almost full

Please note that there is NO longer a municipal albergue in Caldas de Reis. We arrived today (May 2025) at the albergue de caldas de reis urraca, which is marked here on wisepilgrim as a municipal albergue. But the hostess told us that it has not been municipal for a few years, it is now private.
So be warned!! People can now reserve places here via booking.com so you are not certain to have a bed unless you reserve in advance, even if you walk fast and are the third to arrive, like me!! She told me i was lucky that there were still available beds... costs 15 euros per person.

I came here slightly too early for menu del dia, but the waiter was really nice about it and I waited with a cafe con leche. He came back and took my order as soon as it was the right time - I really appreciated that! It seemed like a busy place with the locals too because there were 2 tables reserved next to me for lunch. Pilgrims menu was €16 and it tasted good and the portions were large.

Looked like a great place, but make sure you make reservations in order to get a table

I stayed here in a private room for 20euro. There were 3 beds in the room, so I assume I normally would have had roommates on any other day. I think I got really lucky—there were probably less than 10 people in the whole albergue. I had an entire floor and bathroom to myself. There’s a kitchen on the floor too with a great balcony. There’s an entire other floor of private rooms, too. The owner works a bar/cafe on the property, was very sweet, and served a great breakfast. Highly recommend!

Had a comfortable stay at Pension Caldas. Good double room, excellent bed. Everything clean. Find them on booking.com for an affordable break from bunkbeds!

We stayed at Pensión Caldea in a private room but shared bathroom(but it felt like our own). One of the most comfortable bed on our trip. It has a espresso machine, kettle, tea, etc. Highly recommended. The host owns a hair salon that is located in the same building. If you’re a pilgrim that needs some relaxation after you arrive at Caldas de Reis, you can get a hair wash at Sonia’s at a very good price. You might fall asleep because the chair has build in massage. She will give you many recommendations also.

A great location just over the river and on the route. It is clean and comfortable. I was able to wash my clothes then dry for €2. There is a kitchen also. Shower pressure great and my bed was super comfortable at the back of the pension. I highly recommend this as a place to stay. Over the road from a great restaurant beside the river and about 100m from the hot mineral springs pool.
