The Road

Bei den wenigen Industriegebäuden angekommen, die Ihre Ankunft in Canero signalisieren, schließt sich der Camino kurz der N-632a an. Er führt durch einen Kreisverkehr und über den Fluss und nimmt dann den Weg auf der rechten Seite wieder auf. Von hier aus beginnt er aus dem Tal heraus anzusteigen und auf dem Weg passieren Sie das Hotel und Restaurant neben der Straße. Es ist möglich nach dem Hotel auf der Straße zu bleiben, aber es gibt Wege, welche die Serpentinen der Straße abkürzen und die Sie zurück zur (und unter der) A-8 bringen.

Der Großteil der Wanderung zwischen hier und Barcia verläuft entlang der N-634.

A entrada acima de 28 de junho de 2019 está correta – existe uma rota para evitar a curva em hairpin na N634 e continuar para o Camino. Está bem marcada, mas pode ser confusa porque a Wise Camino aparentemente não é mantida para mostrar rotas alternativas que têm marcadores do Camino. Então atenção peregrinos, esta não é a única vez que o mapa pode estar errado.

Bom albergue, muito perto de uma linda praia.
Há restaurante e tortilhas e empanadas fora do horário de refeições.
Fornecemos sabonete e toalha, mas sem proteção para o colchão.

O ponto mais baixo foi atingido. Raramente fomos tratados tão mal como nesta albergaria. Depois de nos registarmos e pagarmos, fomos mandados embora para a albergaria com um gesto de mão. Chegámos aqui caminhando para a parte de trás do hotel/restaurante que os proprietários também gerem. Dormimos sobre o plástico dos colchões; não nos foram dados lençóis. Não havia nada na cozinha lá em baixo. Não havia chaleira e não havia café nem chá. O jantar custou 18 €. Foi muito saboroso e a senhora que nos serviu foi muito simpática. Quando queríamos sair do restaurante após o jantar estava a chover e a cair granizo terrivelmente. Quando perguntámos se poderíamos ir para a albergaria através do hotel, indicou que o cliente de hoje era mimado. Perguntou mockingly se deveria pedir um táxi. Fomos forçados a caminhar lá fora sob a chuva torrencial. Também pagámos demasiado pelo pequeno-almoço no dia seguinte, respetivamente 4,30 € por uma chávena de café e dois pães tostados. A albergaria chamada praia de gruta (playa de cueva) está à altura do seu nome. Nunca mais voltaremos aqui.

Man at hotel Canero bar was very upset that we didn’t have cash to pay for snacks, despite having a card reader. We offered to buy something more so our bill was above 10 euros (which apparently was the minimum, despite no signage anywhere), and then he told us that he bet that we actually had the cash and were lying… not super welcoming. Bring cash to avoid this, I suppose. Or skip the place and find somewhere more welcoming.

You really should take the coastal alternative described below. If you are insecure qbout finding the right way just download the app maps.me and you see all the way. Also there are signs on the way which tell you it is the ruta dr lq cangrexa. When we were there everything was wet from the night, it was a little bit slippery but not too much and also you could see that there are not many people walking there in the beginning. The views are amazing!!!!

Camino de Sant…

The second you cross river esva look for the riverside trail to the right. This is what wise pilgrim suggests but is not
Indicated by the arrows. Follow it all the way down to playa cueva ignoring the shell which will take you left instead of right. At the beach go to sand and go left. Go to where the pebbles meet the sand and you’ll see a trail going up the hillside. Follow it to the top. Take a right and follow along the cliff top. Now you are on the ruta del cangrexa. Amazing views at every turn back over Cabo busto and hidden beaches forests etc etc. It includes a couple
Of descents and climbs but pretty chill. In the wet might be entirely different story.

Camino de Sant…

Just after Hotel Canaro on the right side there is the original stone marked path it’s lovely and gets you off the N634 onto a shady trail when you hit the road again look across for the next trail you eventually hit the A8 proceed along crossing a bridge over the A8 and you eventually hit the blue line again following the old Camino stones all the way .

Hotel Canero also has a Pilgrim Albergue attached to the hotel with 18 beds at 10 euro. The Albergue is new and has a fully equipped kitchen with washer and dryer and a large patio with plenty of tables.
