This place is a very nice ‘Boho’ place with a clean bed and nice bathroom. ‘Breakfast’ was processed foods in plastic packaging (most people who stayed that night left it on the table, and the green bananas were the only fresh thing to eat. I didn’t choose to eat dinner because I couldn’t afford it. I splurged on the bed/hot shower. If you are looking for a communal experience, don’t stay here- the host was neither welcoming or friendly during the short time the guests were there. She also has issues with laundry- just don’t ask. The host’s mood seemed to permeate the place.

It is a very cosy place and feels like visiting an old friend.
The owner told us the story of how it came to be, while we had a communal meal, traditional brazilian food. She offers towels and sheets which is very thoughtful.

To improve

Our washing was all humid in the morning, she didnt hang it or unwrap it, things in a ball and wet when we left in the morning.

The breakfast was all processed foods in the little bag she prepares.

These two things could improve

Love, love, love this Albergue💖. Nice, clean, no bunk beds. Comes with towels and sheets. Nice dinner. It’s like coming to a friends house🙏🏽

Clean, cotton sheets on the beds, lovely home-like atmosphere. Only one main bathroom so you need to be patient with other pilgrims. The evening meal was nice, a bit expensive what it was but it was nice to hear Patricia’s story of how she came to open the albergue. Met some lovely people. A positive experience!

One of the few regrets of my cross-country hike from Gibraltar to Galicia was the fact that I overlooked this little gem of an albergue. I had spent most of the 1225km hike sleeping rough on the ground (or in my trusty hammock) while researching for my latest book: Vagabond. I've returned to Astorga twice since (walking the Camino del Invierno andcollecting material for a new Lonely Planet guidebook) and now stay at So por Hoje every chance I get. It's well worth the upgrade! Mark Eveleigh (UK).

Place was clean - lots of steps. She is a mum (single??) and running the Hostal while raising her family. Agree with another post about the scales in the bathroom - what a bonus! Didn't like that we had to pay in cash though. Patricia is very friendly and compassionate. Another pilgrim told me she got sick there and Patricia let her stay an additional night free of cost.

This is an expensive albergue for what is on offer - 10 beds in one attic room with only one bathroom. The dinner does not have a non-meat option and the breakfast is a bag of processed bread and cake and one banana. There are much better options in Astorga.
