History

We stayed at Casa Tania on October 23, 2025, for just one night during our pilgrimage — and unfortunately, it turned out to be our most disappointing stay.
Check-in was supposed to start at 13:30, and our group of six pilgrims arrived around 16:00, only to find another traveler already waiting with no host in sight. While the front door was wide open and remained unsecured during our stay, there were no check-in instructions, no message, and no sign of anyone around. After several unanswered WhatsApp messages, we finally had to make an international phone call just to find out how to get into our rooms.
Sadly, the problems didn’t end at no prior communication about how to enter or leave the albergue. We found
1. No toilet paper available anywhere.
2. Bathrooms were not clean — mould in the showers was very noticeable.
3. No hand soap in the upstairs shared bathroom, and no body soap downstairs.
4. No heating in Bedroom 4 — the thermostat was stuck at 6.7°C, which made for a very cold night.
5. The host promised to come and fix the issues but never showed up — one of our group even skipped dinner waiting.
6. The sink in the shared bathroom was clogged, draining painfully slowly.
It was such a letdown, especially after a long day on the Camino when all we needed was warmth, cleanliness, and a bit of care.
Unless you’re truly desperate and come fully prepared with your own supplies and low expectations, I can’t recommend Casa Tania. 😬😟

I stayed for one night in the private room and bath. There are 3 other rooms and they all share the same downstairs bathroom. No manager on site and everyone does a remote check in. The main entry door does not have a lock which is concerning but it is a small village so probably not a big issue. You get your Room key inside
the entry after she texts you the room number. There is a kitchen with a frig and hot plates and cooking utensils and plates. No grocery store nearby. Nice outdoor seating area but felt like it wasn’t well attended as most of the plants were dead and cigarette butts around. Just felt like this was a way to make money but didn’t really care about pilgrims.
Would do in a pinch. There is Bar Tescal before you arrive and Casa MariLuz about 1/2 mile further from Tania. The MariLuz is better. You can just walk the road there and watch for traffic which is easier than the cut off rocky path. Wish I would have walked to the next village .

Glad to have the stop. We stayed at Casa Tania. Adequate. Clean. We had private room with bath. Bathroom door didn’t shut. Plenty of hot water. Nearest restaurant half mile away down a steep trail. No supermarket or other services in this place

Not a friendly welcome. Don’t rely on stop for food.

This donativo had the most attentive volunteers. They showed a great documentary called "I'll Push You" about Justin in a wheelchair being pushed by his best friend Patrick across the whole Camino Frances! A wonderful community dinner was provided along with the opportunity to share camino experiences. The beds were comfortable and bottom sheets and a pillow case are provided. I went away feeling nurtured!
