Castrojeriz

Camino de Sant…

And will probably stay so until the end of the month. Don't count on a lot of cold water though because of the drought.

Camino de Sant…

Several of the pilgrims staying here today thought the albergue was closed but it's very much open. No hot water, no electricity and no WiFi but the atmosphere more than makes up for all that.

Camino de Sant…

We planned to stay there, due to the recommendations and descriptions. But disappointly everything was closed. So don’t caunt on it.

Camino de Sant…

There is a fab cafe/bar at the ruins. The guy was so nice

Camino de Sant…

The accommodation is located inside the ruins of a monastery, it looks absolutely magical. The hosts are very nice, they provide communal dinner for everyone. It’s all donativo. There are bunk beds and shower. It’s extremely clean. There is no electricity / light and no hot water. BUT - this experience is one of a kind. If you need hot shower or to charge your phone, it’s not your choice probably. But otherwise this is the most memorable place you’ll stay in on the whole Camino. Somehow it’s also not very crowded despite Hontanas being completely full. I can’t express how I recommend everyone to stay in San Anton.

Camino de Sant…

An albergue unlike any other. Nestled in the ruins of a monastery founded in 1146, a small building affords you shelter and simple but perfectly serviceable bunk beds. The sign on the road is modest (‘Refugio’ plus an arrow), but this is well worth your attention. No electricity and no hot water, but so what? Cold showers are fine, especially in summer. This is a sublime, tranquil setting and one conducive to reflection Communal meal and drinks afterwards in a ‘secret’ bar across the road add an extra edge. Do not miss this one!!
