The Road

Anam Cara House. Lovely country home with a hostel. Clean with real sheets. Nice sitting room. Between both Caminos. Near Serantes. 27.5 km from Navia.

A total treat! Especially if you need a Zero Day, we stayed for £71/night and had an entire cute apartment with kitchen for finally cooking. Clean, modern, well stocked. Oceanfront! All services of town short walking distance. Didn't want to leave!!

Don’t judge from the outside.
We had a triple room. Clean and comfortable. Modern, updated bathroom.
Our room was at the end of the hall and face the back of the building. It was quiet.
Request a hair dryer at the front desk.
Hostess was very friendly and let us borrow umbrellas as it was pouring to go out for dinner and see some of the town.
There’s a nice coffee shop right across the street.

Municipal Albergue. Tapia de Casariego.
Pilgrims love a cheap bed. We are on the road for a long time and try to save money wherever we can so we can complete our journey. However, the state of the municipal albergue at Tapia de Casariego was appalling.

It is a donotivo and I understand I don’t have to pay anything if I don’t want to , but it was insulting. Pilgrims still require cleanliness. The state of the beds was awful. The white(?) cover over the mattress was covered in dirt and other peoples hair. The covers had obviously not been cleaned for some time as they were all wrinkled and dirty. Bed bugs heaven if ever I have seen it.

I have completed four Caminos and this is the worst albergue I have ever seen. Possibly why it is free. If anyone thinks I am being unfair, please do not hesitate to go and spend a night here. I dare you!! And good luck. Do not rush to this place. It is shameful.

Camino de Sant…

When you leave the city the Camino will lead you over different route then it’s here on the map, with a lot of asphalt roads. However, if you follow the signs to the GR E9 you will walk more or less the original route across country roads with beautiful views on the sea
