Attenzione

Nel momento in cui ci si avvicina alla grande città di Gijón, in gran parte industriale, la campagna praticamente scompare. Da qui, fino ad Avilés, è difficile camminare quasi esclusivamente su marciapiedi attraverso aree urbane e industriali; l'eccezione alla sporcizia è l'habitat protetto a ovest dell'acciaieria.

Il cammino

Dal campeggio di Deva ci sono due possibili percorsi per arrivare a Gíjon. Il Cammino ufficiale svolta a destra all'altezza del campeggio (con il campeggio alla tua sinistra). Il percorso alternativo e, secondo alcuni, più piacevole, lungo il fiume, gira a sinistra all'altezza del campeggio e scende oltre il parcheggio. In fondo alla collina si unisce a un sentiero noto come Senda de Peña Francia; quando lo raggiungi, gira a destra. Questa alternativa ti porterà a Gíjon vicino alla Playa de San Lorenzo. Per raggiungere le frecce del Cammino ufficiale è sufficiente seguire la costa attraverso la città fino al porto dove passa.

I was walking on a very rainy day and I wasn’t sure I was going to go onto Gijón thinking of ugly industrial path . I stopped at the campground restaurant and it was so warm and had one of the best Ensalada mixta , 2 coffees , drive my gear and then it stopped raining and I decided to walk on. I two took the alternative route and it was quite lovely at times. Definitely take the alternative route. It’s not hard to follow.

I took the alternative path from Deva into Gijón (Senda de Peña Francia). Considering my low expectations of the walk into the urban area I was happily surprised by a walk along a gravel path mostly along a small river through a parc-like environment. Even if the urban surroundings were still close by (and I sometimes needed to cross it) I enjoyed the walk well enough. On a sunny day the trees probably offer some welcome shade as well. I don't know about the official route but from my experience I could recommend the alternative!
