One of the best gîtes of my 6 weeks so far. Lovely, welcoming hosts, awesome food, comfy dorm room, cute dog. I have had the opposite experience listed above - the rules are about the same as anywhere else, and the hosts have gone out of their way to help me and another pilgrim who have been injured and needed to extend our stays.

Heel hartelijk dank. Jeannette

Camino de Sant…

We were met at the door of the gite by Fabian, who immediately told us several rules that needed to be followed before stepping out of the entrance room. Very unwelcoming! These rules included not being allowed to walk up the wooden stairs in bare feet, because he considers pilgrims smelly and dirty. We felt like we were treated very poorly, and not in the pilgrim spirit at all. He later told us that pilgrims over 50 ( I am 68 and very clean and tidy) needed to be treated like children.
We were insulted by this “greeting “, and his comments. We are respectful pilgrims and expect to be treated as such. Although our private room was nice, his attitude left us feeling down all night and even today.
