History

Le nom de la ville donne un peu de poids à l'affirmation selon laquelle elle a d'abord été colonisée par les disciples français du premier roi du Portugal.

The Road

Le camino passe par les jardins municipaux puis sous la N10. À partir de ce point, le nouveau camino pourrait se confondre avec l'ancien itinéraire. Peu après que le camino soit passé sous la N10, il passe devant une petite usine puis tourne à droite. <> En tournant à droite, le camino continue sur un chemin beaucoup plus calme et sûr jusqu'à Vala do Carregado.

NOTE : Les anciennes flèches indiquant le chemin au-dessus de la route fréquentée peuvent encore exister.

Certainement une recommandation ! Hôte amical, chambre spacieuse et propre à 400m de la gare. La route passe près de la gare.

Salut les pèlerins ! M ici.

J'ai eu le meilleur déjeuner chez "150 Gramas", le pulpo était délicieux et la tarte au citron meringuée pour finir était exquise. Bon chemin.

J'étais ici le 6 juillet et ils finissaient tout juste leur Festival du Red Vest. La ville était une grande fête tout le week-end. Si vous prévoyez de faire le Camino début juillet, cela pourrait valoir la peine d'être noté (pour y assister ou l'éviter comme vous le souhaitez!)
Comme dans la plupart des endroits sur le Camino, dimanche était plutôt calme pour les magasins, même avec le festival.

J'ai eu un repas fantastique au Tasco da Ilda à VFDX. La propriétaire et son mari ont été des hôtes merveilleux, très sympathiques et attentionnés. La nourriture était excellente, en particulier les croquettes de viande et le tartare de thon. Classé parmi les meilleurs restaurants du Portugal. Vous ne serez pas déçu

It was worth waiting for a table at restaurante o retiro. Busy and really good atmosphere. Delicious meal and very friendly staff. We had a drink at the bar next door while we waited. Completely different but also nice in its own way, very friendly owners.

We stayed at the Lezeiria hotel, a lovely and comfy spot for a great nights sleep. Directions to leave this morning are a little confusing. Yesterday we walked the narrow N 10 and found it a little dangerous on some roads but hoping to jump back onto the new path, i will follow up after for more clarity

A very pretty and delightful town, lots of locals out catching up for coffee or a drink in the many outdoor (for this time of year) cafes. I seem to be the only pilgrim in town on this day, but found an amazing little restaurant, Maioral restaurant and bar, right next to Hopedaria Maioral, fabulous meal and lovely staff.

After a 40km walk from Lisbon on Day 1 of my Camino, it was wonderful to get into Villa Franca. Cute town worth an hour or so to wander around

Fair big local town without tourism. Charming with local well makeup ladies who were chatting and greeting each other on the street , in cafe in the morning. Very local fabrics.
