The Road

As Eires albergue was full so I pulled out my phone and saw that there was a local stop called Casa Jesus Turismo Rural. I booked a room for 44 euro- 51 USD, it is so worth every penny. There is a lovely garden where I was able to wash and hang my clothes out to dry, a heated salt water pool with lounge chairs, a bar/cafe on site, and a huge outdoor area to relax including a hammock. There were local Spanish families with their kids and some bunnies hopping around. I got a wonderful private bedroom which has a view of both the sea and the mountains. There is a living room area that I could relax in… but why would I because it’s my first private room in quite some time on the Camino. I’m so very glad the albergue was full, I’ve been feeling worn down but am invigorated after a long swim/ float and nap by the pool.

OK, there are no longer any markings for this route. I walked down to the beach and could barely make out what looks like a goats path. If you are afraid of heights. Do not take this path. It is overgrown and can be dangerous in spot. Be sure to stay on the path. The views are absolutely stunning. It does take you a bit passed Lires when you exit the path. There is a nice bar restaurant you can stop at at the beach before walking the 1.7 km back into Lires. Also be sure you are wearing long pants as you will walk through brush with thorns and thistle! Buen Camino.

Make absolutely certain to carry provisions from Finisterre to/from Muxia - NO cafes, bars, services open at all

We didn't see any signs to the albergue, so had to backtrack.

The fairly new Liresca Restaurant in Lires is great. Good and interesting food options using local ingredients and different food choices from the usual Camino staples!

There are hardly any markings for this route including near the church. I had to download alltrails to be able to find and follow it. In some places it felt quite sketchy- right along the cliff edges and track very overgrown. Got lost a couple of times despite having the all trails map.

Having said that, the views were stunning. I eventually made it to fisterre (walked muxia to fisterre) pretty exhausted!

New bar/ restaurant , A Brana, just down the hill from As Eiras, friendly staff, music and a different menu.

I had a reservation at the Albergue in Lires, As Eiras.
I was at the same albergue in 2017 and 2018. Everything was nice at that time.
But now the hotel receive buses of tourists and they party all afternoon and evenings.
I will never come back , it doesn't feel like a peaceful rest for the pilgrims who walked long kilometers .
I find there was no spirit of the way here.
Time change.
