The Road

Had a great time at the hotel. The food is amazing! Best tortilla española I’ve ever had. Supper has a menu del dia with 2 options to choose from. I went with a salad and goat cheese and jamón croquetas and fresh salmon for the second dish. Everything was delicious! As for the rooms, stayed on a one e bedroom accommodation that had view of the dam and a bathtub. If you plan to stay there make sure to bring some Epson salt.

There is the hotel with nice rooms and awesome towels. Dinner was a mix of good and disgusting. The fish soup was good but the patata surprise was a heap of grease. The strawberry ice cream had a centimeter of ice on it. The view of the dam from the terrace is pleasant but cut short with a dog constantly barking in a screeching pitch.

If doing a longer leg from Pole de Allande or over the Hospitales then this is a great stop. Perfect location, clean rooms, friendly staff and the veranda is the perfect place to have a beer after a long day. Best to book though.
Many pilgrims were turned away in mid June and had to walk a further 5 kms (4kms uphill) to Grandas de Salime where there are only two hotels and they were fully booked.

We arrived here in time to eat a lovely lunch on the terrace. We had a comfortable room and it was very quiet overnight and we had a good rest. We set off before breakfast and it was a hard day with a hill at the start and another at the end of the day.

If you want to break your Camino into shorter stages this is a perfect hotel to rest: operated by a friendly family serving breakfast lunch and dinner, clean & comfortable rooms with ensuite, terrace for drinks overlooking the dam. Just 11 km to Castro next day.

The restaurant here is top notch. Both lunch and dinner menú del día were excellent for €12 each. They also do a la carte. The outside terrace has wonderful views sun and shade and very breezy. The rooms are small but clean and some also have great views of the reservoir and dam. Well worth staying here or taking a break before the final asphalt climb into Grandas. They also wash dry and fold your laundry for only €6!!! Bliss.

The best meal I have had so far on Camino. Tastes like heaven. If nothing else it is worth staying here for food.

It is an old fashioned hotel with single and double rooms starting at 35euros. No dormitory rooms.

Best tortilla and second breakfast I’ve ever had, with a lovely view of the water. Perfect rest stop.
