Le prénom Itziar, et quelques dérivés de celui-ci, est un prénom populaire donné aux femmes basques. Son origine remonte au 8e siècle, lorsqu'un temple a été construit en révérence à Santa Maria de Itziar. Sa statue demeure ici, et est vénérée aussi bien par les marins que par les pèlerins.

The Road

Depuis Itziar, le camino tourne vers le nord pour revenir à la mer à Deba. Après l'église, tourne à droite à la première fourche et suis le chemin de campagne. Vous ne remarquerez plus d'autoroutes alors que vous serpentez vers Deba, mais elles creusent néanmoins un tunnel sous vos pieds.

We read comments that there is nothing in this town so stopped at a terrible cafe at the bottom of the hill next to the highway where we were charged 17 euro for 2x bocadillos with nothing but meat in them and 2x cokes. When we walked through this town there were at least 2x bars that were open. This was around 1pm end of a July

I found this hotel, it's 2km off track, but then there is a shortcut to Deba so no additional length.
€75 for room for two with ensuite. Really nice place, helpful staff and good food
