The Road

Le camino au-delà de Boimorto se divise en trois itinéraires distincts avant que chacun ne rejoigne le camino francés. Tous trois se rejoignent à nouveau près de l'aéroport Lavacolla. À partir de A Gándara, vous devez choisir entre deux options, la troisième étant une dérivation de l'une des deux.

Lorsque vous choisissez entre les options, considérez que le Camino Francés peut être très fréquenté selon la saison ; par rapport au Camino del Norte, il y a beaucoup plus de pèlerins sur le chemin.

La troisième option est une dérivée de l'une des deux.

Toutes les distances indiquées vont de A Gándara à San Paio, qui est le premier village après l'aéroport de Lavacolla. Le chiffre entre [parenthèses] correspond à la distance restant à parcourir jusqu'à Santiago.

Option 1 : La NOUVELLE ROUTE OFFICIELLE - 28,3 [40,7]

Le nouvel itinéraire officiel va de A Gándara directement à Lavacolla où il rejoint le Camino Francés ; c'est l'itinéraire le plus court vers Santiago.

L'itinéraire officiel est très peu fréquenté.

Il y a très peu de services le long du chemin (quelques bars, et une Pension) et pas encore d'albergues. Préparez-vous à une longue journée et suivez l'AC-0603 directement à la sortie de la ville.

Option 2 : VIA BREA / O Pedrouzo - 30.5 [42.9]

En cours de route, il y a une option pour rejoindre le Camino Francés près de Brea, et la prochaine grande ville le long du Camino Francés à partir de ce point est O Pedrouzo. Le virage vers Brea se produit à 9,9 km de A Gándara. Si tu rates le tournant, il n'est pas nécessaire de revenir sur tes pas. Continue plutôt sur ce sentier jusqu'à ce que tu atteignes la N-624 (encore 7,3km). Peu après l'avoir rejointe, une route pavée marquée O Pedrouzo tourne à gauche, suivez-la jusqu'au début de O Pedrouzo.

Vers Brea, il y a 17,9 km et vers O Pedrouzo 23,5 km.

Option 3 : L'ANCIENNE ROUTE OFFICIELLE - 35.8 [48.2]

L'ancien itinéraire pour rejoindre le Camino Francés à Arzúa est toujours balisé et praticable. C'est la plus longue des deux options, mais elle offre beaucoup plus de services car elle atteint le Camino Francés plus tôt.

Pour suivre cet itinéraire, tourne à gauche à la fin de A Gándara pour suivre l'AC-0602 en direction d'Arzua.

Vous passerez par le hameau de Sendelle en cours de route.

Jusqu'à Arzua il y a 9,7km.

Camino de Sant… (non vérifié)

From Boimorto you have 9km of well signed road walking. Narrow road but not too much traffic. At the 4km mark there is a bar, not sure of days and times of opening. At the 7km mark there is a chapel with a fountain on the opposite side of the road. At 9kms you reach a small town and there is a bed and breakfast “Twin Pines” just before. At the 12km mark there is a small town with a beautiful, newly renovated Casa Rural (Casa Rico de Medín) which also has a bar. Really beautiful establishment and great coffee, looks like a lovely place to stay. The road eventually joins the N634 (very busy with big trucks etc) but mostly has a gravel path on the left side so you don’t have to take the shoulder. At about the 22km marker, Wise Pilgrim blue dots tell you to keep on the road over a little bridge but the road is narrow and it’s not safe. Follow the camino markers instead which take you away from the road (about 100m) over a little bridge and behind some buildings and puts you back beside the road again. Much safer. Round the corner there is a cafe (Cafe Suarez). Route then has gravel paths beside the road right up until the junction with the Camino Frances.

Es gibt eine kleine Bar in Cabrita. Sehr freundlich und auch wenn der Weg nur Asphalt bietet, ist er für mich die große Ruhe vor dem großen Frances-Sturm.

we walked option 1 today. option 1 is the shortest way between monasterio sobrado and lavacolla. the path is well indicated all the time (km stones and arrows). be careful not to miss them (sometimes when tired one walks on, and actually should have gone left/right). from boimorto: soon after, a bar. then no bars at all, until stone km 21. also a bar at stone km 22 (not easy to see; it’s off the road a little, in what looks like a house). it’s a loong walk; be prepared for almost no bars in option 1. we arrived in lavacolla: total i believe 42 km from monasterio sobrado.

Then it is 17km with no services on the way to lavacolla

The local hostel just before biomorto is excellent, it’s super clean, has great showers, and is only 6 euro. Very few pilgrims stay there so you will probably have a whole room to yourself.

Camino de Sant…

The kilometers are off on this app by about 7km compared to all of the mile markers through Galicia. It’s because from Boimorto to Arzua it should read 10km instead of 2. It’s correct in the actual book. Hard discovery at the end of my day to realize I had 7km more and running out of time to check in to Albergue. I hope this gets fixed.

if you go route 1, 12km after Boimorto there is Casa Rico de Medín, so you can get coffee food etc, no need to carry water and food for 27km

Camino de Sant…

I took option 2 today. Only asfalt the whole stage until Brea. (my poor feet)
Lot of crazy car and even bus drivers, didn’t slow down for a pilgrim. No bars/cafés.
On the positive side: I hardly didn’t see anyone until I joined the Francés just before Brea.

After twin pines we found a small bar at river mera 10km on from twin pines has a tiny supermarket attached not sure of hrs we are here at 9.30 am and they are open
