If organization cleanliness are your top priorities, maybe keep walking. But if you can handle a little chaos and less-than-squeaky clean, this place has amazing heart and soul. Tony, the host, worked so hard to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. It was calm and peaceful, and I got a good night’s rest.

I booked this albergue based on the number of reviews on the app. when I arrived and saw what it was actually like. I went back and checked to see had I made a mistake.

I don't see how anyone would give this very high reviews. I think it's probably the worst, definitely in the bottom two or three of all of the albergues that I've ever stayed in on the Camino.

There was no welcome. When I arrived, I went to the bar first, not realizing the albergue was separate and I got a snapped response "the albergue's at the back"
When I got to the Albergue, I got another snapped instruction, "take off your shoes and put down your rucksack".

They didn't accept cards only cash, which is unusual but not uncommon, but don't give receipts. So cash without receipts, you know what that means.

The bunk beds are made of metal and they're very noisy. There are very few PowerPoints for the number of pilgrims.

The toilet cubicles have doors that are jamming and that make a huge amount of noise and were making that noise late at night and very early in the morning. A good night's sleep was out of the question.

The furniture looks like a charity would reject it if it was offered as donation. It's very battered.

There was hot water in the showers but not in the wash hand basins.

The dinner was very good. It was essentially vegetarian. There was a chickpeas stew, a lentil dish, pasta with vegetable and a salad. There was wine and there was beer for whoever wanted it. Desert was either an apple or a pear.

It was a communal dinner which is not my preference but having said that it was still a good dinner.

Breakfast was very strange given that we had a vegetarian dinner the night before. I expected the breakfast to be somewhat healthy. We were offered Cheerios and a copy cat corn flakes. I don't really understand that.

I would only recommend you stay here if your legs don't allow you to travel any further. I would have no intentions of going back.

I think of the authorities inspected this place, they would shut it down.

I arrived early and was immediately welcome. Please note the price is 13 euros not 10. This didn’t matter. The albergue is bright and colourful however the grass could be cut as was long making the place look run down. Big comfy lounges and books galore. Coffee and tea for free and you can cook if you wish. The showers are hot the beds comfortable and I am looking forward to dinner. Please also note there are no convenience stores in this village, so if cooking bring your food with you.

This hamlet doesn’t look like much but I received so much here. Almenecer is a rmemorable albergue with a guard goose. The yard and bar were a bit run down but still welcoming. Dorms were clean without feeling sterile. (10 euros). Bunk beds were tall with good clearance on the bottom bunk. Not a disposable sheet in sight.
Naima was a lovely host who cooked up the best home-cooked meal I’ve ever had on a Camino. There must have been at least eight dishes on the table, some meat-based and others vegetarian. (12 euros). She sang for us the traditional French song about the Camino and told some great stories.
Merci, Naima!
There was also a donativo breakfast.
If you enjoy history, there is a gentleman who lives next to the church who gives incredible tours for a donation.

This place doesn’t look like much but it is one of my favourite Camino experiences. If you’re looking for top notch “tourist” experiences, this isn’t the place. If you want a generous hearty and delicious meal prepared and served by one of the most generous souls I’ve encountered so far, stay here. And for heavens sake, sing along! ❤️

One of the best albergues. The 10 € for bed and 12 € for dinner which was epic (the best so far). Really recommend. The place is quite and peaceful. We had a wonderful time.

It was such a nice to stay. Very good vibes and a bit in nature. The dinner was amazing! Instead of a typical 3 course pilgrim dinner, there was around 7 different dishes for everything to have! Just wow! Also vegetarian options! Even though about staying here another night

Best albergue we’ve seen on the camino! Lovely host, solid bunk beds, but the best was: the dinner! The food was amazing, and healthy! Best dinner on the camino so far! The bar next to the albergue is a nice place to drink a beer or wine.

Nice and quiet small albergue with solid, wooden bunk beds where you can actually sit up straight in the lower bunk. French host made an delicious dinner consisting of various courses - many of which were vegetarian. Also very nice salads. It was quite cold last night but there are blankets. Breakfast in the morning is donativo and on the table so you can leave early if you want.

The bunk beds are wooden and solid. Plug ins are not necessarily near the beds. The washing is all outside with limited hanging spaces but maybe that was just because many of us had put off washing for a few days. The albergue is right behind the bar which is the community hang out. Apparently there is a man who comes in the evening to play a guitar. My friend had a reiki session with the owner of the bar for a donation. I wish there was soap in the bathrooms of these albergues. Bring your own in.
