El camino te lleva directamente a la puerta principal del Monasterio de Armenteira y a los dos bares de la ciudad. Justo delante de ti está el más popular de los dos. El albergue está alejado de la ciudad unos cientos de metros, sigue las flechas del camino y te llevarán al albergue.

The Road

Desde Armenteira, el camino se une a un sendero popular (entre los lugareños) conocido como la Ruta de la Piedra y del Agua. Sigue a lo largo de un arroyo, con senderos a ambos lados, mientras desciende hasta el nivel del mar. Por el camino, pasa junto a varias docenas de molinos de agua abandonados. Ten en cuenta que, aunque puedes seguir con seguridad y facilidad ambos lados del río, es el lado derecho el que te mantiene más cerca de los molinos y del agua.

I stayed at a house for pilgrims which is a tiny house direct on the route and next to the cloister of Armenteira. Very convenient situated with a few nice bars nearby. It has different accommodation options and a kitchen. Cooking allowed. Capacity: 6 people. € 15,- pro person. Just calling +34670327186.

Cannot recommend this hostel highly enough - it is 2km from the monastery however Carlos the host, is an absolute gem and happily collected us in his gorgeous little car and he also brought us back later in the evening for the pilgrim
blessing. Nothing is too much trouble for this lovely man, he was so helpful and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast good, then Carlos takes you back to the monastery in the morning to start Camino. Five stars!

Lovely stay. They pick up from the monastery. Dinner and breakfast prepared and they take you back to the Camino in the morning. Very cool wax stamp for the credential.

The Monastery is understandably very popular, so ensure you pre-book. I couldn’t get a response by phone, but did by email.

I waited until 4:30 pm when the monastery office opened to try to get a room and they said no pilgrims. I had waited there for hours and after being turned away the albergue was full. All 35 beds were taken. I paid €4 to sleep on a mattress on the floor next to the bar. Do not wait on the monastery for a bed.
