The Road

Pradela se encuentra en la ladera justo por encima de Trabadelo. El descenso a lo largo del sendero es rápido y lo llevará a una calle lateral a mitad de camino de la ciudad; también es posible seguir el camino para un viaje más largo pero menos empinado.

We left before sunrise to Pradela, it was a tough climb and it would be more difficult in the heat of the day. Lovely views from the top, and chestnut trees. Stop by the albergue in the town. The hostess is super friendly and makes everything from fruit and veggies from her garden. We had a fruit smoothie, chestnut cake and bread with goats cheese and pepper marmalade- delicious!!

I totally agree with all the other comments! The views are just breathtaking all the way uphill, albergue and bar are lovely and village is quiet and peaceful. I even saw donkey just wondering around :) The climb is challenging and hard, but it still is worth it! It took me almost 3 hours to pass these 8km. If you are in the Camino - take everything from it! You have plenty of time to walk beside highway after the descent also :)

I loved every part of this detour, from the challaning track to the lovely town. The views are amazing and it is so peaceful.

Camino de Sant…

I the alternate route via Pradela. Note Pradela will try to misdirect you twice to get to their town instead of heading directly toward Trabadelo. The trail does not merge directly at Trabadelo unless you backtrack. It is steep up the first two kilometers and then seems to gradually go up. The descent is the last two kilometers. Beautiful views. Recommend only taking when the weather is good. if there are storms or after a rain do not go.

Camino de Sant…

Without doubt one of the most peaceful and unspoiled villages on the whole Camino, (from St Jean, even from Le Puy.) Without doubt one of the loveliest small albergues anywhere, perfect facilities, great homemade food - pilgrim meal, , their own wine, chestnut cake .but also most importantly - such a warm, friendly wonderful family. An essential stop! Very much recommended

Camino de Sant…

Take a detour here! The Albergue/Bar is fantastic. The owners were so sweet and kind. If you take the green route you are in for some excellent views and seclusion. No other pilgrims took this route when we were there. It is a climb, but it you are rewarded with views for basically this whole section. It is worth it. It was hot for us, so we went to Pradela for some water and rest. The owners were so unbelievably kind. They were in the middle of their own lunch and they put it totally aside to help us. We stumbled in overheated, exhausted, and in need of water. The prices were good and the food was amazing! We had a goat cheese salad and cheesecake. The owners make their own chestnut syrup using the trees nearby. They drizzle this syrup all over the cheesecake and it is perfect. The salad was huge and very good. While we waited they let us fill our bottles from the kitchen sink repeatedly. We ordered lemonade and the owner made us a gigantic and delicious pitcher. After we ate the owner insisted on calling to make a reservation for us in Trabadelo, where we planned to stay. She also gave us to mini shots of their homemade chestnut liquor. I have never had anything like it. It was delicious. it was sort of like a sweeter syrupy whiskey, but with an amazing flavor. My husband does not like whiskey and he still loved it. If we had stayed overnight we would have ordered a few drinks of this. They were so generous and kind to us. This little gem is worth the detour off trail. The owners were just so kind and the food and experience we had for lunch was great!
