I paid for 3 nights. On the second day I went out to lunch. Got back at 1:30 and the door code does not work. Kept ringing the doorbell and finally an angry volunteer comes out and shouts at me saying we are closed. I explained that I am a guest having paid for 3 nights. Ha said come back after 2.30. I asked To stay in the garden he was inflexible and rude. I had to wait out in the side walk for over an hour. This is no way to treat guests. Stay somewhere else’s.

It’s louder than your average Albergue. People talking loudly and laughing all night. Noisy beds and creaky building. Thin mattresses

Pros:
kitchen; laundry (with one coin operated washing machine and dryer); lovely garden to sit in; large; mostly clean; beautiful building; common area with books and instruments; dining room; can collect credential here; easy check in; fresh sheets for free; Camino related decor and murals.

Cons:
Rucksacks are locked in lockers in entrance room (this is also a pro for cleanliness); no communal dinner; there is no “lights out” time and “silent time”, which isn’t very strictly enforced, is from 11pm (people might be quite loud downstairs or outside and the sound echos and travels to all the bedrooms making it difficult to sleep any earlier); there’s also a turtle in a very small enclosure outside which may be upsetting to some people; very thin mattresses; and finally, weird vibes

If you’re after a beautiful building with good amenities where you can stay up a little later to meet people and socialise then this place is absolutely perfect.

However, If noise bothers you and you’d like a good sleep before you start your Camino, then maybe somewhere else would be better.

Auberge spacieuse, bien agencée, très propre, des espaces de convivialité, une cuisine équipée, un jardin très agréable...

Stayed 4 nights before the start of our Camino journey… great way to get over jet lag and see Porto. Very close to Carolina Michaelis metro station. Book in advance… lots of people getting turned away while we were there. fab garden to relax and dry cloths. Machine for cloths available for 3 euro… large sink area to wash by hand. Wonderful cat and terrapin on the back yard… makes you feel at home.

I was very pleased with my stay here. The facilities were excellent including my lower bunk with good headroom, power outlets and a shelf by the bed, cloth sheets and pillow cases included (no charge). The shower was excellent though the hot water took a few minutes to warm up. Breakfast for 4 Euros extra was basic but adequate. I also enjoyed the beautiful gardens and Camino murals on the walls outside. I would stay again.

A busy place and easy to get to by Metro. Reception and volunteers are kind and efficient in dealing with lots of people coming and going. Kitchen and dining areas are great. The four of us had a room with 2 bunk beds. Third floor was a bit tough with heavy backpacks and tired legs but such is Camino life. We enjoyed our stay there for two nights.

Very good albergue, not far from metro coming from the airport, also ok walking distance from centre. Nice service, you can have breakfast. Beds ok, enough showers and kitchen equipped. I could leave my backpack there as arrived in the morning.

One of the best albergues I've stayed at. Extremely cleaned and comfortable. Right on the Central Way. Cost is 16 euros as of March 2024. Comfortable common rooms as nd very clean kitchen to use. Helpful and friendly staff.
